Vuilniszakken kosten centen ...

Voila, we're getting there:
It works perfectly in the land of the nonsense term 'Official FDC' (*), but not at all in the rest of the world.
It also works perfectly for the non-manufacturer collectors. But that aside.
(*) NVPH does not have exclusive win-win agreements with official postal services of other countries, nor does it issue FDCs for other countries.
There is only the 'exclusive clause' (what would it have cost?) between NVPH and the Dutch Government Post Services.
One person (the NVPH) may deliver envelopes (with beautiful drawings and an 'E' number on them) to the Post in the Netherlands. That's what FDCs are made of. Or was the NVPH simply sent the official postmark to use freely?
In the Netherlands, only one company can receive FDCs from the Post. The same company that can have them listed in the catalog with specification 'Official'. The same company that makes that catalog, and determines what the content is (including the catalog values).
One company makes, catalogs and sets the price.
In the other countries of the world there is freedom (at least when creating FDCs) and/or creativity. bPost used it in a number of events at different locations, where the new issues could be bought on the day of issue. And additionally at special fairs/exhibitions that took place around that day. This way you can also have FDCs that are stamped the next day. That's the way it is.
With the collapse in demand for FDCs, there is no more excess.
Because NVPH didn't have that nice profitable distinction (canceled in different places), experiments were already done with one or two cancels. Or with black stamping ink or purple. Or with a 'color shift'. Or an issue with 'E' and one where that letter was 'forgotten'.
The more different ones, the more pennies you can fish out of the collectors' pockets. A lot of money has been made in a certain period of time. So they dug their own grave. Who will eventually believe all that nonsense, and who is willing to spend many years on it?
The 'official' FDCs of NL from the years when the circulations approached one million, you now have to pay for them to clear them up. Garbage bags cost pennies...

The reason lies with the FDC idea. Originally, it was the first day that a stamp or postal stationery could be used. Years later, when serious collectors began to study and search for that date (for lack of the necessary sources), they found that pieces actually stamped on that day were rarely found. In this way, those pieces acquired considerable added value, because they were highly sought after. It was not until about eighty years later that the first "official" envelopes were made especially for the occasion and the trouble began. Collecting and researching turned into a money-making model. You can read the rest with Raoul above.

Maybe also a nice one in this thread: just bought, is not in LD. Henk Vleeming says FDC, but can I enter them here as well?

As a collector I say with conviction: an FDC. Real craftsmanship to appeal to collectors (then they also pay a lot).
As far as NVPH is concerned, is it an illegal release... a cinderella FDC? (just kidding)
It's even a "color variety" of an FDC's proof.
I wonder how many were made.
As far as LD (manual) is concerned: the complete series of stamps is on it (on the envelope), it has a postmark on the day of issue and it is on a specially made envelope. The latter obviously has nothing to do with FDC, but in the Netherlands that is - I find - a condition.
I can't find anything about it in the 'Official stamp catalog Special Collecting Areas of the Netherlands' (ed. Zonnebloem).
Apart from the 'official' (NVPH) and the 'semi-official' (Philato, the famous W covers), no other FDCs are included. Strange.
Philato was allowed by NVPH (perhaps for a fee) to issue a first-day envelope for the stamps of which NVPH did not make an 'official' FDC.
The whole world knows those pieces are FDCs. In the Netherlands they are called W envelopes.
So your copy would be a Trumpet edition...
Who knows where (on the internet) you can find information about Trumpet publications FDC: please add here. I was also asked that question recently and I couldn't find anything right away.
