5. Craftwork (anyone can decorate an envelope with colored pencils, stick some stamps on it and then have it stamped at a post office), no matter how silly (inconsistency between stamps, drawing and cancellation), is philately . If you then have a pigeon ... let it be done, then you have pigeon mail.
At point 5 the remark: most maximum cards of the Netherlands fall under this. In the Netherlands, a certain printer has been quite active in making thousands of different by-products. But they are collected by philatelists as an extension of the stamps and FDCs. They are therefore in their place in the category 'Stamps'.
When it comes to manufacturing, you can immediately open up the discussion a bit more broadly. What about all the 'personal stamps'? That is a separate type of use (1209 ex. already in Belgium, preferably 6473 in the Netherlands) that anyone can 'make'. But they are valid for postage as a stamp.... It's a good thing that it is a separate type of use. But if these fall under stamps, then certainly also occasional envelopes, if cataloged under the correct type of use.

The FDC, FDS, newspapers, sheets, ... which are officially issued by the postal service in this form have the correct stamps and the same date of cancellation that belongs to the Series. It therefore seems easy to me to classify this under Stamps with the relevant stamp.
The occasion envelopes do not have the same cover / stamp theme. So here I either have to invent a Series myself, or (if it has to go quickly) just [unspecified]?
For first-day brochures with stamps the section Stamps is ok, empty brochures have to go to Other-Folder? Everything double?
Please don't make it too complicated ... there are already enough mistakes.

A philately theme collector hopes to see them together in one section : stamps, FDS, FDC, LDC, LDS, Eronnifilie, Occasional envelopes, sheets, blocks, private issues, blackprints, blueprints, unaccepted designs, maximum cards, ...
Not everyone is a standard collector of one (or all :)) countries, neatly (and obediently) sorted by year .
If there were a personalized filter to tick somewhere which species may be shown for you, then nobody would be bothered and everyone would benefit. But that is in a different thread.
Now the 'standard' filter is fixed for everyone. And perhaps determined by influences that have contributed the most weight ever?
I would rather see them in the postage stamps section. If they are not in 'fantasy' you will come across them, and you prevent the same 'oddity' from being added again. . And the raid can begin to enrich the theme collection. Using LastDodo . Important.
Today I also retrieved three occasional covers of the Dutch East Indies from the fantasy pool and placed them back (sort by 'recently changed' and you will see them). A collector of this area, a very important one for the Netherlands, I assume, is this rather an enrichment, right?

Your message from February 22, 2021 5:58 PM here I find very important. Would you dare to include such things in the handbook?
I have been struggling for a long time with all the profusion of non-pure stamp items in the stamps section on LD. But these ('made in edition') all belong there (see previous explanation), in the right place.

Postmaster's last two sentences may not be in the Stamp Handbook, but it is the very first article in the general Basic Handbook , which also applies to stamps.
PS This link is at the top of the input page of every section that does not yet have its own manual, but should actually also be mentioned under Stamps, Comics and Model Trains.

A philately theme collector hopes to see them together in one section :
Since we no longer do theme categories on Cata ... er ... LastDodo, the Stamps section should indeed be stripped down to just the stamps, without any other uses.
Just as the Comics section is gradually reduced to just comic books books and all additional products are moved to other sections, in accordance with the physical appearance (magazines, posters, calendars, comic information, catalogs, etc. ., folders also coming soon).
Whoever collects thematically should (as was suggested) be able to save in his / her profile a personal selection of everything that fits within his / her collection. That would be ideal.
By the way, I think that in the past the main pages of some sections also referred to related sections, such as Books to Picture albums.
That is no longer so since the new layout, which I think is a shame.

this discussion and there were a few more in the past, were the reason for me that I don't want to keep my collection in Lastdodo ...
Discussing based on arguments shouldn't be possible Morits? What I often think about stamps is the cause of different insights and opinions is the fact that there is a long tradition of paper catalogs and a digital catalog like ours offers many more possibilities, both in terms of description and cross-linking and in terms of size ( we have no restrictions and can record anything unless it is homemade, as Postmaster puts it well). That does require a switch.
And then there is also collection in all kinds of ways: per country (where you also have a discussion about the history and borders of countries), thematically, only the basic stamps, also variants thereof , also derived products such as what this thread was started with, etc. That means that you quickly look at things from a different perspective in a discussion. But that also offers opportunities and is in any case fascinating to me.

My question has been answered, my doubts have disappeared. In addition, I got some new extra things for my backpack.
Admittedly, every answer leads to several new questions ... personal selections, related sections (or descending below to linked items?), Integration or disintegration, upholster or undress ... Magical food for thought, possibly leading to new threads.

The input page also needs to be addressed, we also want to display the manual and the texts in the fields more prominently.
Hereby again an urgent request (especially to the administrators) to properly evaluate the current help texts, for all input fields, and to pass on any changes to me.
