Originele politieke cartoon op kaart in pen en inkt, gepubliceerd in de Eastern Daily Press, 1969, toont Richard Nixon die de 'hot seat' nadert in het ovale kantoor na zijn verkiezing in 1968, en de moeilijke problemen waarmee hij te maken zal krijgen. ‘Vietnam’, ‘ruimtewedloop’, ‘stadsstrijd’ en ‘rassenproblemen’ waren serieuze kwesties die door de nieuwe bewoner van het Witte Huis zouden moeten worden aangepakt, waarbij de ‘kernwapenwedloop’ misschien wel de meest urgente van allemaal was. Original political cartoon on card in pen and ink, published in the Eastern Daily Press, 1969, shows Richard Nixon approaching the ‘hot seat’ in the oval office following his election in 1968, and the difficult problems he will have to deal with. ‘Vietnam’, ‘space race’ ‘city strife’ and ‘race problems’ were serious issues which would have to tackled by the new occupant of the White House, the ‘nuclear arms race’ perhaps being the most urgent of all. Card size 31 x 24 cm (12 x 9.5 inch), image size 26 x 20 cm, signed lower right, typed caption in lower border. In very good condition.
