Originele redactionele cartoon, inkt en krijt aan boord, 1945. De titel komt uit een gedicht "Say Not The Struggle Naught Availeth" van Arthur Quiller-Couch en wordt hier door Crawford gebruikt om de aandacht te vestigen op de benarde situatie van de Oost-Europeanen die (na het missen van de 'Vrijheidstrein') onder communistisch bewind ('in ketenen') na de Tweede Wereldoorlog. Original editorial cartoon, ink and crayon on board, 1945. The title comes from a poem "Say Not The Struggle Naught Availeth" by Arthur Quiller-Couch and is used here by Crawford to draw attention to the plight of the Eastern Europeans who found themselves (having missed the ‘Freedom Train’) under Communist rule (‘in chains’) after World War Two. Titled in top margin in blue crayon and signed bottom left. Paper size 44.5 x 37 cm (17.5 x 14.5 inch), image size 38.5 x 30 cm, in excellent condition.
