Bijzonderheden
Staffordshire Police had a long association with Jaguar whose Coventry factory was not too far away from their southern border. Powerful, fast and, especially in XJ6 form, possessed of an almost otherworldly handling and ride, which Jaguar’s engineers had honed on the world’s race circuits, they were ideally suited to highspeed motorway patrol work; not many cars could outrun a Jaguar. Following the tragic death of two officers who were struck whilst getting out of their vehicle at the scene of an accident, Staffordshire Police pioneered a number of innovations in officer safety that are now standard on motorway patrol vehicles. These were mainly focused on alerting other motorists to the fact that an accident had occurred and included a specially built box on the roof of their vehicles containing rearward facing flashing red lights and a large illuminated ‘accident’ sign. Car boots were also painted in a high visibility red, and all cars were fitted with reflective Police signs. Part of Staffordshire Police 2-piece set SP1002 Limited Edition 1.200 pcs.
