Bijzonderheden
The job of the Special Escort Group (SEG) of the Metropolitan Police is to escort almost anything that requires some kind of protection; whether that be VIPs, high value loads, category A prisoners or something else that needs to get through traffic without hindrance. They appear on the TV news frequently, usually escoring a prison truck or entering the Old Bailey with the latest high profile prisoner on board. Although the police have used Range Rovers since they were released in 1970 the current Range Rover is a good example of how the global motor industry is interconnected by a complex web of deals. Originally designed in the UK at Rover’s Gaydon design centre, it used many BMW sourced components as BMW owned Rover at the time. Rover was then sold to the Phoenix consortium in 2000, but crucially this sale did not include the new Mini, which BMW kept, or Land Rover, which they sold to Ford at around the same time. Land Rover then launched the Range Rover modelled here in 2001, complete with a BMW engine and other compnents which Ford bought from BMW under the terms of their initial sale agreement. The Range Rover has since been substantially reengineered to use components from within the Ford group of companies, most notably Jaguar’s V8 engine. Limited Edition 3.220 pcs. (with certificate)
