In April 1975 the City of Glasgow Police Dog Branch pioneered the use of this MkI Ford Transit Van and Trailer to carry up to six handlers and their dogs to assist in large scale searches. The trailer would carry all the necessary equipment to the scene. The force amalgamated with several others in May 1975 to form the Strathclyde Police and the unit was re-liveried accordingly.
