Alvast hartelijk bedankt!
groeten,
Sabine
Today I have been working on my collection of DVDs. I wanted to check which DVDs we had already imported and which ones we had not.
With my lay knowledge, I thought I would "just" sort by title and go through the list (of more than 300 titles) "just". What a hell!
That's why I have a few questions:
- we can ensure that all the, de and other standard prefixes are cut off from the title so that, when you start sorting, you can simply find a title such as the breakfastclub, the deerhunter, the wedding planner etc. with the titles where you can find them expected. In any case, I don't have them all with the "t" in my closet. Or am I the only one in this?
- In addition, I noticed that when I search for "Star wars" for example, I only find 3 out of 6 titles. The same is also true for "Indiana Jones" and a few others. For my image this is not uniform. I understand that for some titles it is a sub / by title or something like that. but then we may have to see whether you can also include under / at titles and the like when you search by title.
- The Miami Vice movie is now under something with "Season One". In fact, when I search the catalog for the title "first season" I really come across all kinds of things. That can't be the title of a movie, can it?
It is not my intention to be just critical and I would also like to help improve this in this category. I would like to hear if there are people who encounter the same issues and if we can do something about it?
Thank you very much in advance!
greetings,
Sabine

response Rene March 5, 2011
We've also selected a tool that allows users to vote on a to-do list of suggested new features and other improvements. This makes the priorities from the user group clearer. We have yet to implement this but we intend to do so in the coming weeks.
This week!
And then we can fill in the list.
Maybe also with a realization / target date !?

I had overlooked this one. A lot has been posted lately :-)
Thank you for thinking about the DVD section Sabine and thank you for entering your collection!
About your first question. Do you mean when you watch all the DVDs in your collection and then sort by title?
Question 2: when I search for Star Wars in the search bar at the top of the DVD section, I find the link Star Wars and that links to all parts of it.
Question 3: Miami Vice is classified looks like per season. That often happens with TV series. For example, I have just started the 6th and final season of Lost (exciting!) Often those boxes with TV series do not have their own title, only a season number. Or is that different with Miami Vice?

Question 2: when I search for Star Wars in the search bar at the top of the DVD section, I find the link Star Wars and that links to all parts of it.
That's right, but you need to know a little about Catawiki to understand it. I had the same problem in the beginning. If you enter 'Star Wars' in a search, you will not get pictures of all Star Wars DVDs because 'Star Wars' is not in the title. You can find them in 'Heroes' but that is a step too much for the neophyte
Perhaps it can be solved by simply showing all items with Star Wars as 'hero' in a search instead of the 'heroes' link. This is something you would logically expect in a search.
About your first question. Do you mean when you watch all the DVDs in your collection and then sort by title?
Indeed, if I sort by title (because that is how they are sorted in the DVD cabinet) then I see all films that start with "The" at the "T". But I think it makes more sense to omit that word from the sorting.
Question 2: when I search for Star Wars in the search bar at the top of the DVD section, I find the link Star Wars and that links to all parts of it.
I chose: My Collections, DVDs, "View All DVD / Video / Blu-ray" . Then I come to a screen where I can make a selection. I can also enter Star Wars at the Title field here. At that moment I search my collection, in the DVDs category for star wars and I only find the star wars trilogy. This is also the case if I search in the way you indicate. What I also expect here is "The Phantom Menace" (and 2 others like that). I don't find this one now because there is no star wars in the title. For example, in the original title , this is.
Question 3: Miami Vice is classified looks like per season. That often happens with TV series. For example, I have just started the 6th and final season of Lost (exciting!) Often those boxes with TV series do not have their own title, only a season number. Or is that different with Miami Vice?
The same applies to this question as to Star Wars. If you search for the title "Miami" you will find nothing (in our collection). If you search for "First Season" you will see the movie.
Is the 6th season of Lost exciting or is entering the 6th season exciting;) I don't know the series so I can't judge it. :)
There will be all kinds of logical explanations when you are in the middle of the DVD / Movie business about how and why you register and search for something in a certain way. If you look at it as a layman, or you go looking for something, you will not find anything. It seems important to me that you also take these users into account. I would like to be the "monkey" to make it monkey proof.

@ Sabine,
In itself logical that you want to ignore the "The" and the like when sorting. I just have to see how we can achieve that.
V.w.b. search: we will soon continue to implement the search engine that is now used in the marketplace. I think that will be an improvement though. The filter options will also make a lot more sense.
It is also confusing that in the presentation of the search results now the collection areas are separate with a link that you must first click.
We take this into account when improving the search function. Unfortunately, it is not something that can be solved a la minute, but it will certainly work out fine. Thank you for your good feedback!

Um, yes, weeks can have 14 days, or 21 days, even 28 days :)
I wish a week had 28 days so we could do a lot more in one week!
Let's talk about the tool we selected to keep track of the todo list and the option to vote. It turned out to be a little less beautiful than I initially thought. Had the disadvantage, for example, that as a user you again need a separate username to be able to vote and to put something on the to-do list.
We'll take a closer look at other options. We prefer to use a ready-made solution so that we do not have to reinvent the wheel.
To be continued.

@eatingbrain
Maar nu even zonder gekheid.
@eatingbrain
We prefer you not to spread viruses .....
But now without any fun. When it comes to this movie: 975041 you can indicate in the right pane (add to your ... wish list) that you are looking for it, in the hope that someday there will be a seller.
