De reden voor deze thread is het feit dat er (met name over Engelse) filmtitels schijnbaar nogal wat onduidelijkheid bestaat...
Bij Nederlandse filmtitels is het simpel. Aan het begin van een filmtitel (net als het begin van een zin) hoofdletters, verder alles met kleine letters tenzij het eigennamen van mensen, familienamen of namen van plaatsen of geografische locaties betreft.
Bij twijfel:
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lijst_van_Nederlandse_films
Hetzelfde als bij Nederlandse films geldt in principe ook bij filmtitels van Franse, Spaanse, Portugeese, Skandinavische (etc) origine.
Bij Duitstalige films geldt hetzelfde, behalve het feit dat in het Duits natuurlijk ook alle zelfstandige naamwoorden met hoofdletters dienen te worden gespeld.
Voorbeelden: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Filme
Zie hiervoor o.a.

Citaat uit de laatste link:
"Television Show/Movie titles – Capitalize all principal words (nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs) and first word in these titles.
Example:
·The Wizard of Oz, with Judy Garland"
Ter verduidelijking - Deze regel voor hoofd en kleine letters geldt dus alleen voor titels van films, tv-shows, radio-shows, boeken, etc. - Niet in het normale engelse taalgebruik.
Bij twijfel kun je een filmtitel het beste eerst opzoeken in de Internet Movie Database (IMDb): http://www.imdb.com/

The reason for this thread is the fact that (especially about English) movie titles seem to be quite unclear ...
It is simple with Dutch film titles. At the beginning of a movie title (just like the beginning of a sentence) uppercase letters, otherwise everything with lowercase unless they are proper names of people, surnames or names of places or geographic locations.
When in doubt:
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lijst_van_Nederlandse_films
In principle, the same as with Dutch films also applies to film titles of French, Spanish, Portuguese, Scandinavian (etc) origin.
The same applies to German-language films, except that in German, all nouns must of course also be spelled with capital letters.
Examples: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deutsche_Filme
And now the most important:
Contrary to what some might think, in English film and book titles, just like in German, almost all first letters of words should be capitalized. This certainly applies to nouns!
Only articles (a, an, the) conjunctions (and, or) and most prepositions that have less than 5 letters (in, or, on, with) and the word 'to' if it precedes the infinitive of a verb ( as in 'To Be or Not to Be') must start with lowercase!
See for this a.o.

Quote from the last link:
" Television Show / Movie titles - Capitalize all principal words (nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs) and first word in these titles.
Example:
The Wizard of Oz , with Judy Garland "
For clarification - This rule for capital and small letters only applies to titles of movies, TV shows, radio shows, books, etc. - Not in the normal English language.
When in doubt, it is best to first look up a movie title in the Internet Movie Database (IMDb): http://www.imdb.com/

er is bij de muziek ook al een discussie over hoofdletters in engelse en amerikaanse titels...
in the music there is also a discussion about capital letters in English and American titles ...

Bij twijfel:
Die lijst is vergeven van de fouten, als we bovenstaande regels volgen. En ook IMDb is niet consequent met Nederlandse titels.
Bij de invulinstructies zijn deze afspraken overigens nergens terug te vinden. Geen wonder dat er onduidelijkheid over is.
When in doubt:
That list is riddled with errors, if we follow the above rules. And IMDb is also inconsistent with Dutch titles.
Incidentally, these agreements are nowhere to be found in the completion instructions. No wonder there is a lack of clarity about this.

Bij Strips en Boeken die hoofdzakelijk Nederlandstalig zijn, zijn de kleine letters verantwoord.
Bij rubrieken die sowieso Engelstalig zijn kies je best voor de Angelsaksische conventie. Dat bespaart problemen achteraf.
The lower case letters are justified for Comics and Books that are mainly written in Dutch.
For sections that are in English anyway, it is best to choose the Anglo-Saxon convention. That saves problems afterwards.

Inderdaad. Vandaar ook deze thread.

That list is riddled with errors, if we follow the above rules.
If you can find a better list (with fewer errors) for Dutch-language films that is just as extensive, please let me know and we'll post it here.
And IMDb is also inconsistent with Dutch titles.
That's right, that's why I put that link at the bottom of my argument about English titles. As far as I am concerned, IMDb is only leading for English-language films.
Incidentally, these agreements are nowhere to be found in the completion instructions. No wonder there is a lack of clarity about this.
Indeed. Hence this thread.

Binnen (muziek) is gekozen voor de Nederlandse spelling.
(uitzondering bij Duitse items ook de zelfstandige naamwoorden met hoofdletter)
en of dit juist is?
maar uiteindelijk zijn we wel een Nederlandse site.
En een eenduidige manier van invoeren.
Within (music) the Dutch spelling has been chosen.
(except for German items also the nouns with capital letter)
and whether this is correct?
but in the end we are a Dutch site.
And an unambiguous way of entering.

maar uiteindelijk zijn we wel een Nederlandse site.
De inzet van Catawiki ligt wat verder dan de landsgrenzen en zullen we toch de schrijfwijzen gaan hanteren, die elders gebruikt worden.
but in the end we are a Dutch site.
The commitment of Catawiki is a bit further than national borders and we will still use the spellings that are used elsewhere.

Dan moeten we beginnen binnen heel Catawiki een uniforme manier van toevoegen te gaan gebruiken.
Dat lijkt me een eerste vereiste.
Anders is het dweilen met de kraan open.
Maar nog belangrijker lijkt me zorg dat je uniek bent in vormgeving en betrouwbaarheid.
En kijk niet te veel bij andere.
Then we have to start using a uniform way of adding content throughout Catawiki.
That seems to me to be a prerequisite.
Otherwise it is mopping with the tap open.
But more importantly, it seems to me that you are unique in design and reliability.
And don't look too much at others.
