I'll just keep on whining.
Just discovered something at “Castella”. If you don't have this set….
Numbers 596373 , 1012645 , 1012653 and 1023197 are identical. 1012645 has the best picture, so I'd say keep it.
Numbers 1015529 (the best) are identical to 549443 and 940777 .
Finally, 976953 and 976949 are also the same.
The differences only consist of various degrees of weathering and oxidation, where the lacquer layer has sometimes been removed.
Surely Catawiki is not about cataloging the various chemical processes that can affect the pins? In any case, weathered pins without a coat of paint are worth nothing, especially with this series of which millions have been put into circulation….

There is still a lot of work to be done on the structure of this section before a meaningful pin catalog can be created. What we have now is only a marginal part of what is in circulation.
What we need are more or less specialized collectors who can place complete series of pins. Because only those who have everything can properly name series and determine whether variants (Castella beauty soap red and brown) are really different pins or just accidental color deviations. And of course no complete series must be entered as one item, but each pin from the series separately. Only that is boring and ungrateful work, which actually (just like in the stamp section) should be able to be imported from a spreadsheet.
By the way, I haven't even got around to introducing my specialism yet, even though it is reasonably clear (in my head at least).
The last two pins you mention don't seem the same to me, if only because the color of the metal differs.

The last two are apparently different, but believe me, there is really only one of this shape. I also have many doubles in the series and there are no color variations of the others in the series. Chemical attack can change the color of the metal.
Apparently that happened here too, because the paint is off and that really does not just happen.
I myself hope to import thousands more pins in the coming months, but I also have to make a difficult relocation with refurbishment, so whether it will go quickly?
I also have a request: for the material of the pins add BRONZE as an option. There are, for example, in constellations, but also in more than ten other subjects, series of 12 or 4 pins in bronze. These are of course a bit more expensive and stand out clearly in terms of color.
the two of castella of pearls and castella brown beauty soap are really different.
The silver copies (good condition) have two asterisks / crosses on the back of beauty soap and not on the yellow / copper one, and pearls have three asterisks / crosses on the back of the silver one.
in addition, they are made of different materials, the yellow one is brass and the silver one is aluminum.
seems to me important details that they are different, and not discolored by oxidation or weathering.
photographed the difference and put them in my collection.
greetings from hanened.

Probably not aluminum, but nickel-plated brass. The markings on the back are interesting, especially if you post photos of them. But then the photos could be a bit sharper.
(And may I ask you to use a neutral background ?! Such a table top is acceptable, but preferably without all the mess that is on it.)
are sharper photos in my collection, of the two castellas.
