Hallo,
Bedankt,
Peter

Hello,
can someone help me identify copy covers of bound Bob Evers books?
I have a 1st and 2nd edition of "High Game in Hong Kong".
The paper of the cover of the 1st edition is 'whiter' and 'dull'. (see photos indicated with '1')
The paper of the cover of the 2nd edition is 'glossier'. (see photos marked '2')
The spine of the 2nd edition is also slightly discoloured, lighter in color (lighter red). The spine of the 1st edition does not have this discolouration.
And what struck me further is that the inside of the back flap of the 2nd edition (see photo 3) has a 'band' of 1 to 2 cm on the left side. This is lighter than the rest of the back flap.
Do I now have a real and a copy cover here?
Thank you,
Peter

@kaasblokje
@kaasblokje
as far as I can see 1 is a copy
Bedankt Morits.
Bedankt.
Thank you Morits. I already suspected that book 1 (the 1st edition) is probably a copy.
Although I must say that it is a good copy. It has not been copied on normal copy paper. This paper is smoother. Most of the copy covers I know, especially those of the bound Conny Coll series, have been copied on A4 paper. And because of this you miss parts of the text of the inner flap. This copy does not have that. And there is also nowhere on the inside of the cover a "line" to be seen, where two A4 pages are placed against each other.
But I don't know if you know this. Can I assume that covers that have such a white band on the inside of the back flap (photo 3, print 2) are real dust jackets? And the covers that don't have that, so are copies?
Or maybe another collector knows this?
Thanks.
