F - La série comprend 14 objets émis en 1902 et 1903.
E – The series has 14 items issued in 1902 and 1903.
E – This series of stamps – the second issue of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing – bears the name “Series 1902” on each stamp, and was released in sheet, booklet pane, and experimental coil formats. There are also two novelties: a stamp with a new value of 13 c., meant for foreign mail and a stamp with the portrait of a woman, Martha Washington, wife of president George Washington. The bureau hoped that the new 'artistic' designs would create general interest. The opposite was the case: press and public disliked them, especially the 1c. (Franklin) and 2c. (Washington) values. They were considered caricatures of the presidents. That’s why the stamp of 2c. was replaced within a year.
