The electrophone was a coin-operated music system which used telephone lines. The "musical telephone" was first demonstrated by the French inventor Clement Agnes Ader at an electric expo in 1881. By the early 1900's, this forerunner of the jukebox was found in salons, hotels and restaurants throughout Europe, notably in France and Great Britain.
