Wat er na 1985 gebeurd en gemaakt wordt en door wie is niet meer te volgen,

Het was toch altijd: of je hadMatchbox autootjes en als die niet kon betalen dan had je de Corgi autootjes ?
Surely it was always: if you had Matchbox cars and if they couldn't afford then you had the Corgi cars?
Dat weet ik niet met de prijzen van toen. Had zelf altijd Matchbox toen ik klein was en kom niet uit een rijk gezin, maar Matchbox was altijd van metaal, betere kwaliteit en ging/gaat langer mee en dat is belangrijk, zeker met kinderen, nu willen mensen weer meer duurzaamheid en geen Ikea troep dat binnen 1 maand uit elkaar valt van ellende. Volgens mijn in de jaren 80 had ik nieuw in box Matchbox voor 3,50 gulden. Maar in de jaren 80 werden ze gemaakt in Macau of ergens in Azië en dan zijn de productiekosten lager. Op de 2de plaats die ik veel heb/had is Majorette.
I don't know that with the prices back then. Always had Matchbox when I was little and don't come from a rich family, but Matchbox was always made of metal, better quality and lasted / lasts longer and that is important, especially with children, now people want more sustainability again and no Ikea junk that falls apart from misery within 1 month. According to my in the 80s I had new in box Matchbox for 3.50 guilders. But in the 80's they were made in Macau or somewhere in Asia and then the production costs are lower. The 2nd place I have / had a lot is Majorette.
Zowel Matchbox als Hot Wheels zijn nu eigendom van Mattel. Corgi Junior en Whizzwheels bestaan echter niet meer. Echte Matchbox cars zijn nu een zeldzaamheid want slechts 15% van de nu verkochte mattel modelautootjes in 1:64-1:100 zijn Matchbox, de rest Hot Wheels. Daarom schieten de prijzen van de oude matchbox autootjes nu de lucht in, vooral de regular wheels. Bekijk maar eens de waardecatalogus van Charlie Mack. Hij is een Amerikaan die zich al jaren toelegt op modelauto's in het algemeen. Nu is alles gemaakt door Mattel nogal Mainstream, met weinig verschillen in één model. Dikwijls zijn het kleuren die anders zijn, maar bij de regular wheels waren er verschillen op gebeid van wielkleuren (grijs, zilver, zwart), opschriftverschillen en ook kleurverschillen (denk mlaar aan de Dodge bergingstruck - zie catawiki). Sommige auto's tot 1969 gaan voor $ 500-750 onder verzamelaars. Wel te verstaan de rariteiten.
Majorette is eigenlijk nu de enige nog echte concurent van de Mattel autootjes.

Both Matchbox and Hot Wheels are now owned by Mattel. However, Corgi Junior and Whizzwheels no longer exist. Real Matchbox cars are now a rarity because only 15% of the mattel model cars sold in 1:64-1:100 are Matchbox, the rest Hot Wheels. That is why the prices of the old matchbox cars are now skyrocketing, especially the regular wheels. Just look at Charlie Mack's catalog of values. He is an American who has been devoted to model cars in general for many years. Now everything made by Mattel is rather Mainstream, with few differences in one model. Often the colors are different, but with the regular wheels there were differences in wheel colors (grey, silver, black), inscription differences and also color differences (think of the Dodge salvage truck - see Catawiki). Some cars up to 1969 go for $500-750 among collectors. Understand the rarities.
Majorette is actually now the only real competitor of the Mattel cars.

Wat betreft de opmerking van DisneyMeentwijc dat je Corgi's kocht als je Matchbox niet kon veroorloven.
Het was meer andersom. De Matchbox wagentjes waren kleiner (zie de hierboven vermelde schaal) dan Corgi's (1:43). Zoals de naam al aangeeft zouden de Matchbox autotjes in een luciferdoosje (matchbox) moeten passen.
Corgi Toys en Dinky Toys zaten qua schaal meer in elkaars water. En dan waren de Corgi's vaak net wat luxer dan de Dinky Toys. Een onderscheid dat later steeds kleiner werd.
As for Disney's comment, I think you bought Corgis if you couldn't afford Matchbox.
It was more the other way around. The Matchbox carts were smaller (see scale above) than Corgis (1:43). As the name implies, the Matchbox cars should fit in a matchbox.
Corgi Toys and Dinky Toys were more in each other's water in terms of scale. And then the Corgis were often just a bit more luxurious than the Dinky Toys. A distinction that became smaller and smaller later on.
