Announced yesterday in the newsletter, but here again the info for newcomers:
We are having another import competition. And this time in the four sections that everyone has at home: Books, Records / CDs, DVD / video and Video games. So there is no excuse not to participate! The rules of the game are simple: we measure who entered the most items in these four categories in the months of March and April. The standings can be viewed here and the entire top-10 wins prizes. Items rejected by admins do not count. So make sure you enter neatly. The prices are very good, the largest importer can choose first, then the second largest etc .:
1. An Olympus µ-7010 camera worth 290 euro!
2. A Wireless N-Broadband Router from Linksys (WRT 160N) worth 95 euro
3. The book “Windows 7 Grand Cru” - The ultimate reference book for Windows 7
4. Panda Antivirus software for Netbooks
5. Software package “PDF Converter Professional 6” from Nuance + DVD with the Belgian Yellow Pages from Truvo + a Yellow Pages T-shirt
6. Nintendo Gamecube game “Fight Night, Round 2”
7. Comic package: Pieter Aspe “The square of revenge” and “The Midas murders” + “Harry Humus: Ambras around Alba Aldannih” + Metro collection “Plagiarism”
8. A printed catalog of your own collection or part of the Catawiki catalog worth 100 euros
9. A printed catalog of your own collection or part of the Catawiki catalog worth 50 euros
10. A printed catalog of your own collection or part of the Catawiki catalog worth 30 euros
As an extra prize, we reward the "neatest" importer, who best describes the items, also with a personalized printed catalog worth 100 euros. These books printed especially for you have become popular in a short time. Try it yourself!

Does an item complete with cover also count? That is about as much work as entering a new one.
I notice that a lot of covers are still missing, so that would be an extra motivation to add them further.

I'm not competing for the prizes, I just want to enter and do this as best I can. Otherwise you will again get speed entrants who go for the score and not the quality.
VAT , I think books NOT should count, because Willem is only busy entering a lot of books quickly to fill the database , often he doesn't even have them HIMSELF . : S

Too bad Mark Clips won't participate. Maybe I could have had second place now.

Does not count towards this competition (we have already done this in a previous competition) but we really appreciate it!

Great all those clips. We will probably participate in a competition some other time!

I do not participate, but I can go along with the comment of Kael and AvdP, I think it concerns the complete interpretation, or else 1 scan counts for 25% 2 scans for 60% and 100% 3 scans
prices don't say much
only count 10% extra for description:
correctly enter music tracks 25% extra

No, of course you shouldn't stop! :-)
And you are absolutely right. Books (and also Music) are completely filled by users in contrast to, for example, postage stamps and comics (there first a database of 100,000 comics was uploaded; so more than 100,000 have already been added there, by far the most of course) .

Of course it is nice that the sections are filled.
But then you can also make some demands if you make a kind of competition out of it, I've almost done my LP and still have to tidy up a few things.
But are we going for quality or quantity?
And I think adding Willem and Jilles and there are a few more is simply appreciated.
But make it a competition
raise the bar then.

I do that without competition. I also want to enter non-competitive. But the interest is content.
Willem, on February 11th you wrote (in Problems with the site > Ranking lists):
bq. Enter without competition? Does that make sense?
So I can imagine that a “random user” makes a comment (even though I don't believe for a moment that you care about the prices).

It's not about me either, but I don't attack Willem because of what he does, but a match must be neat and fair. Whether you have an item yourself and enter it yourself with all the data included or you enter an item to fill the database with not all the data included.
It's like doping in sports. I can now also grab a huge series and add it. But don't have all the data.
BTW , I'm not in for anything. I just put quality over quantity. The more information that is known, the better, I also notice that many people do not bother to add information. So information is left behind or just gets lost.
Many people grab an item, add it to their collection, and don't fill in the missing information. Why would they, the item is there anyway?
Willem, you can just keep going. You fill in quite a lot and that is good, I am glad that you are so enthusiastic about it.

Content is very important, so that if you still have to 'do' ten meters of books, you shouldn't google blankly to find out a year or pressure seems very defensible to me.
But I am, with AvdP, afraid that anyone who enters an item and thereby does not include data that he / she does have under the motto “that someone else will fill in later” in any case has too much confidence in the decisiveness of his \ her peers.

I mean general, not just one person. It was just an example.
There are people who do not have something, but do enter without further information. Or people who have something and enter WITHOUT or with little info. I personally call this "database fillers".
Willem just does what he does, well. Don't know how much time he spends on it, but it looks good.
Fortunately, there are many people who fill in almost all the information, which is very nice. But unfortunately you also have the "database fillers" and with this action you provoke them to quickly put things on it and there is a good chance that this will be done without or with little information. Administrators are lagging behind when they have to assess everything.
You can also get this 963041 with a quick scan is made and added, not neatly cut out or something.
Anyway, as long as it goes well, it goes well. Das 3x good in one sentence. : P
I only encourage Willem's action, he completes it well and quickly. Apparently he has all the time in the world for that. =) He is not a true "database filler", although of course he is.

It's exciting at the top of the standings
There is only 180 entries between the first and seventh place. Dragon0691 leads the way. Who's overtaking it?

The match is over. Midnight is frozen on the link with the intermediate score. Dragon0691 has won! Thanks to a final sprint just before time, Pepernoot finished 10th. Congratulations to everyone! Dragon0691 is the first to choose a prize from the list.
