Normally I don't respond to you anymore, Rob, but let me do it again (although I will regret it).

If you continue to act like an islander, you will slowly become a little alone and wither away, I'm afraid. Nobody will give you that, so ...

Then leave me alone.

I am also gradually fed up with the nagging of the comic strip people.

If they have nothing more to do with the comics, too bad, but come don't blame and annoy things here.

I totally agree, Morits. It is truly astonishing that in five years no one at Postzegels has risen to hold a terrible house in that area. Presumably it has to do with the once quite coercive domination of the Collectarom event?

How can you do terrible housekeeping at CataWiki ZP when every criticism is immediately destroyed and you are after the accusation that you insult all those volunteers who build up CWPZ access is further denied ????

And indeed as Amse suggests there is a todo box to which priority points can be assigned after which the programs can go to work ..

How are records and comics classified ???? Should series be defined there first - "Beatles 1962-1964" with serial number 1 "Love me do" ????

And we are looking for a green cover ??? And with what many undressed ladies we end up with Jimmy H.??

And how do they do that with Mattel's barbie dolls ???

Isn't it about time that those stamp boys and girls will go to neighborhoods to gain some wisdom ????

Anyone registered with Catawiki is free to respond substantively to topics on the forum.

Nowhere does it say that you can only contribute to a discussion if you are a collector of the collection area within which this discussion takes place.

Being an administrator of one collection area does not mean that you don't understand other collection areas.

Just a few facts about the forum.

There is a simple sentence in the forum rules:

The normal decency rules apply on this forum

If the rules of decency are violated, and it is going to look like it here, the moderators will take measures. You can also read these in the regulations, but for the sake of convenience I have listed them below

  • warn,
  • Temporarily deny access to the forum,
  • Permanently banned from the forum.

We have now been warned so we will intervene less friendly next time.

Coming back to the first line of this article.

Anyone registered with Catawiki is free to respond substantively to topics on the forum.

Let's keep it substantive , so respond to the topic. Any other comment will be removed by the moderators

@ morits,

but if there is a text on the stamp, then it makes sense to include that text as the title

No, the post office that issues the stamp in question also gives it the official title, and that is used worldwide, a stamp on the occasion of the introduction of a non-colonial law is therefore officially called ''introduction of Sharia'' and not ' 'an open Quran'' because it is depicted on the seal, nor 'God is God and Muhammad is his prophet'' because the text above it reads 'la-illa-la-illa-la Mohammed-a-rasullala'' state, those are the age-old modal philatelic rules.

@Arco

It is truly astonishing that in five years no one has stood up at Stamps to make a terrible house in that area.

Have you not followed the simple discussions of the past few years with those stubborn "super" administrators?

Should I worry about this as much as years of arguing over Cinderellas that have still been nadda-noppes-nothing and that we lost a lot of serious co-users out of sheer frustration?

Do I have to stir again in Vietnam for months at night what I have been collecting and trading fanatically for years, only to find out that some pancake that, according to Yvert and his outdated neo-colonial ideas, kills it in one fell swoop? ? and it is now as it never has been except as a delusion in the minds of the French government at the time and a frustrated stamp god authorized to demolish whatever others put into Catavik with serious love and devotion to share with fellow collectors?

Come on Arco we are stamp lickers, crazy but not simple.

As long as that old stubborn clique holds the reins behind the scenes, I'm really not going to worry about this crap and nonsense anymore.

I've already put 1,000s of hours seriously into Catawiki stamps, I've hardly done that for a year now, I won't fill up again until there are serious stamp managers who try to take into account all collectors, professionals and beginners , but also and especially them collectors who save things that they either do not find interesting or take too little seriously and have the balls to recognize that even if they find this or that a nauseously annoying little guy, the person with regard to a certain part of the philately is a connoisseur / specialist and take a look at it to listen.

Well Arco, you did it again, Sinbad has been quiet for months, did you make him freak out again :)

@Ted

We have now been warned so next time we will intervene less friendly.

Ted, don't, we've walked this path too many times, sencurity and deportation leads to exodus number 34 in stamps.

The uprisings, demonstrations and attempted revolutions have been going on for years on catawiki post tiles, censorship, suppression and removal of insurgent elements is not going to solve it and make it a dictatorship.

Since the beginning, stamps have been a revolutionary child within Catawiki, however, stamps is also the only department within Catawiki where there is no structural listening and there is a dictatorial form of governance, will we continue to censor and remove users or will we change the system (read aligning with the other Catawiki departments)?

No, the post office that issues the stamp in question also gives it the official title

Does the postal service name individual stamps or series?

It seems logical to me to give the series the name Introduction of Sharia (that is also possible if the series only consists of 1 stamp). But the seal itself (particularly for anyone who doesn't know its official name) is easier to identify if you actually call it ''An Open Quran'', or put the text on the seal in the title.

Book warehouse,

the Post Office often come up with the names of the issues: e.g. Day of Youth Philately or This is Belgium, etc.

But can we do something with that ??? Then we have more of "Belgian Billiards of the 20th century" or "Spirou" ???

And should we not get rid of that slogan "series" ??? See also my previous post!

Everything that is now released in Nedelrand and Belgium are sheets of 2, 5 or 10 with usually different images! You don't call that Series, do you?

Our last December stamps are not a series after all! You can give it a title like "December 2013" but go and describe all those 20 different stamps ???? Or the block from 2003 "PPZ Special" ?? If you no longer have the tabs how do you describe those 39c stamps ??? Using the colors ????

Many postal services still issue stamps that have a common theme. The image on the stamp is an interpretation of that theme by the designer and the postal company. The postal company usually tries to make this connection clear by giving a title to the issue.

There are many types of stamp collectors. The classic collector collects stamps per area and often strives for completeness. The division of stamps into series can be helpful in this regard. Thematic collectors often collect stamps with a thematic image or with an image that shows an aspect of the collector's theme. In the first case, a division into series need not have additional value. In the second case, it can actually help.

Some postal services contract artists who have their own vision on a theme. A thematic collector could then draw ideas from a series. The list of themes is often filled in based on the image and not based on the issue theme. Incidentally, filling in the issue theme would create series again.

There is a line in which you can describe the image. Often the text on a stamp is a description of the image. In this discussion a reference has been given somewhere to a Dutch stamp with an image of a boy's portrait. This is only part of the text on the stamp.

The combination of the series name, list of thematic topics and description seems in most cases to offer a good chance that everyone can find what they are looking for .

Incidentally, there are also many stamps that have no text. Then the completion of the fields depends on the way in which the person completing them looks at them; if the fields are already filled. The unambiguity is often hard to find.

You can oppose the thematic to classical philately or posit philately as a mission impossible. CataWiki PZ as an alternative to the established paper catalogues, you ignore the fact that in a few years it was possible to set up a catalog on the internet for a country like Argentina - completely freely downloadable - in which practically all collectors can in being able to find what they need [and by find I mean literally search and find!] and which has only been put together by a local association.

http://www.cefiloza.galeon.com/apuntes.html

What has been achieved there with combined forces - the completeness, depth and correct information - far exceeds what has been put down here ;) And what will be put down here in the near future. You don't have to be Sinbad or Micho to see that...

No, no, no. The filling in of fields only depends on the rules and never, ever on how the person completing them looks at them or not. If those lines are not there (yet), they must be there and if those rules are insufficient, they must be adjusted and supplemented.

This is a database, not the back of a napkin.

No no no. The completion of fields only depends on the rules and never, ever, on how the person entering the form looks at it or not. If those rules do not (yet) exist, they must be introduced and if those rules are insufficient, they must be adapted and supplemented.

That's not what I meant. You can make as many rules as you want, but that doesn't prevent someone from qualifying a “book” as a “scripture.”

This is a database, not the back of a napkin.

In my opinion, a database is a tool and not a goal. Databases that gobble up information drive users away.

I am very much in favor of a structured approach, but when I see a watermark “St Edward's Crown E2R” in the English version, on the colors “Purple” and in titles “Queen Eli 's Abeth II”, I wonder if the "rules" for the database may have been written on such a napkin.

Clean

How can you run a terrible house at CataWiki ZP if every criticism is immediately smashed to the ground and you are further denied access after the accusation that you insult all those volunteers who build CWPZ????

Indeed; if you are too critical, while you would like to improve the site, you will receive a warning that your account will be blocked. This is what I had on my pants last week.

It looks like "Russia".

But back to the topic:

Morits

I totally identify with your story.

But I must also say that the search through motives is increasing.

When you often search via ""theme and motifs"", the word list also increases (in my brain) and that also promotes the search.

In your example, the motif ""children"" should be included. (now added)

I realized that it had to be a painting and this addition was there.

Let's all expand "theme and motifs" further, then the search will also get better.

Adjusting the system is a dead end. So many ideas have been put forward through the forum, but I have never seen any change in the positive sense.

Over the last year I have added many motifs. It often happens that nothing has been filled in at all.

Last week I added the motifs ""kings"" in Greece. During the search, only a few stamps were on the screen. And Greece has had many kings!

All of us put their shoulders to the wheel and add theme and motifs, then the search also improves.

http://www.cefiloza.galeon.com/apuntes.html

What has been achieved there with combined forces - the completeness, the depth and correct information - exceeds many times what has been put down here ;)

Indeed class of a high level, even the professional publishers can learn something from it, I immediately downloaded the PDFs.

@Mortis,

Sinbad

How do you think the content of the section should be designed?

I have found a lot, for years, but that is not even important how and what I find, there is only one thing that matters to me and that is that stamps should be accessible to every collector, clearly and with respect for other people's interpretations.

This is not a stamp catalog of users, they are just free knock-in cattle, it is a catalog of a select few who have been deciding / chopping / sawing / deleting / screwing up ect ect for years in an authoritarian and dictatorial way from a totally one-sided, conservative old-fashioned point of view many can't put their collection in it.

Morits I have a large international club with stamp friends I have enthusiastically recommended CW to all of them, no one from this club I repeat no one including myself can dispose of their collection in a normal Christian way, you have to collect very bite-swallow-away do you want being able to place your collection completely in the catawiki in a good way, as long as the hierarchy at PZ remains as it has been for years, it will continue to suck, it will just fall short, there will remain frustrations, revolts, swearing on the forum and there will remain collectors and enthusiastic administrators walk away except those who should have long since concluded that they were weighed and found wanting.

It has been said so often and so much, it makes no sense as long as the plush is not refreshed.

Power makes you horny, you (almost) never hear them, they are invisible stamp gods, too arrogant and too exalted to even respond to the silly plebs that go wild on the forum, see for yourself what stamp administrators respond to stamps. Yes and then we, the plebs have done it again, too clever, too big a mouth ect. etc. And meanwhile Ted has to censor this, deport that one and banish the other. And they can wash their hands in innocence, after all, they have literally done nothing :) Saying nothing for years, not responding, ignoring is even more disrespectful and rude than what is said on the forum, this behavior is not accepted anywhere, only at CW-PZ , bizarre, do you think it's crazy that after all this time many users have 0 respect for those seal clowns

It's gone from a joke to a joke and now it's a real farce.

You have a clear point of view, if you look at the reactions of the stamp administrators then that has been very nil lately. fierce cinderella discussion at the time) and gave their opinion, even though many users disagreed.

Unfortunately, this has already lost several good members at the time.
And more will undoubtedly drop out if it continues like this, which is a shame.

It would be nice if there were some clear lines, within which everyone can put what they collect. Only then can you build a good catalog.

I am bringing in Denmark at the moment. But indeed it is certainly not optimal. It is not possible to enter all stamps.

There are also many stamps (Denmark and Greece) in black.

There is no longer a dialogue with the administrators!

That is indeed going to break up Catawiki. But I can't say that because otherwise the administrators will be insulted and Ted will be at the door again.

With kind regards,

Time and time again you bump your head and yet you just keep entering. That's the spirit. It is good to see that a number of people keep trying to improve the site. However, keep in mind that what is an improvement for some may be less desirable for others. The goal must be to build a site that everyone can use. It must be possible to approach this in the digital age. Rein also indicates where the best results are achieved. That is in the country of origin. An Argentinian catalog is best built by Argentinians. Experts from other countries can of course contribute. In that respect, Miris' aim is important for the site. Internationalization! Until then, CW cannot afford to lose good people. This will happen without good communication and agreements between all levels of CW. It is regrettable to conclude that this is not being adequately managed. It is also regrettable to hear that critics are being silenced

Now let the administrators be what they are ... if they don't like you say much worth, they will fall off by themselves today or tomorrow due to incompetence. Administrators watch out for my words again, I'll rely on what Sinbad says.
