Hello

I have a little question in relatives with self-adhesive stamps.
how do you best remove it from an envelope? With ordinary seals briefly in water and they will come off. And if I tinker with them, I often damage them or just paper sticks to the back. Who has good tips?

greetings benny

try to roll it off. The last self-adhesive stamps in the Netherlands are a disaster. Just like the USA and Belgium, it is impossible to get rid of it. Try to pull off the 1st layer if they are not wet yet and cut the rest with a small edge all around. In short, it is a disaster with several stamps.

As with all other stickers, simply heat with a hair dryer (on the low setting). The glue then becomes liquid enough to be able to remove the seal undamaged (except for the 'damage' to the glue layer itself, of course).

You should try the latest Christmas stamp 2012 of Belgium.

I just soak them in warm water anyway. No problem at all with Dutch stamps.

Benny...

Pedag's tip:

As with all other decals, simply heat with a hairdryer (on the low setting). The adhesive then becomes fluid enough to remove the stamp undamaged (except for the 'damage' to the adhesive layer itself, of course).

and

Micho's tip:

I just soak them in warm water anyway. No problem at all with Dutch stamps.

Of course they don't work with most Belgian, French, Brazilian Russian and US self-adhesive stamps, but of course you already knew that and it is well-intentioned :), if anyone eventually knows a working solution / method for removing the more difficult self-adhesive stamps from the above mentioned countries Sinbad would also like to know.

Incidentally, the UPU and the local associations of these countries have asked to use a different type of glue after many thousands of complaints from collectors

In Belgium it is "simple" for bpost:

After many complaints, bpost has apologized to the user philatelists but claims that there is nothing they can do about it; they have ongoing contracts with the supplier that cannot be reversed ...

Thanks for the tips. I have already tried in hot water. Indeed not working properly. Of course I only save the Belgian stamps. I don't know about the other countries.

I'll give the hairdryer a try

I have a possible solution.

I now dip my self-adhesive stamps in white spirit. No damage. but put it in water after soaking. have the problem that the seals do stick. But you can solve this by sprinkling a little tallow over it.
but I do say try it first on a cheap double seal. It's ok with me. But don't want to get on my ass if it doesn't work out for Julie.

Benny, cut all around and leave seals, everything you try has risks

some stickers, the imprint will come off when you use water or benzene.

Spanish stickers are also a disaster.

if you buy them MNH, you also leave them on the paper when you collect them, and you better do that with canceled stamps.

Think first before throwing names. I'm not saying you should eat spinach first.

Deviate. I neatly removed the series from the Netherlands with that fireworks on the sheet and pasted it on sticker paper and then neatly cut away all around with a cleaver from the hawid strips. Fine, nothing damaged.

Dear fellow collectors,

I have already used the product "eau ecarlate" several times and this with success! (In the United States they use a similar product called bestine). Until now only used for the release of self-adhesive stamps on envelopes. I rub the fragment along the paper side and can remove the seal within seconds. I neutralize the glue using neutral talcum

And what is this stuff in Dutch

I can't really find anything Dutch on both names on google

and google translate doesn't help me either

So for me this is quite a revelation for soaking/getting the self-adhesive stamps, but I can't do anything with it yet! :S

I would like further explanation of which chemical process I should follow or which product I should buy

or in France
