Radio 2 plays the 2000 best records of all time, made by the listeners.

Go to radio2.nl and vote for the 15 songs that you think should be in the top 2000. It is a very difficult choice, but it is satisfying. The fact that you contributed to the compilation of this legendary list is wonderful.

The list will be played from Christmas Day and traditionally ends at exactly 0.00 at the turn of the year with 5 years so far (or more? ) Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody at number 1. Don't you agree? Cast your vote, otherwise you have no right to speak and by casting your vote there might be another number 1.

My preliminary top 15 (in no particular order):

  1. The Village - Wim Sonneveld
  2. Ben - Michael Jackson
  3. The Clown - Ben Cramer
  4. Sailin Home - Piet Veerman
  5. The little cafe on the harbor - Father Abraham
  6. Sammy - Ramses Shaffy
  7. A little in love - André Hazes
  8. Let me, Pastoral - Ramses Shaffy
  9. Super Trooper, Waterloo - Abba
  10. Hilversum 3 - Herman van Veen
  11. Tears of a Clown - Don't remember
  12. Sittin on the dock of the Bay - Otis Redding

Votes all!

Tears of a Clown is most likely from Smokey Robinson and the Miracles.

Oh, Sailin Home and The little cafe at the harbor are also included! Other than that I just like emotional songs. ABBA isn't sad, is it?

Unfortunately, the free choice button did not work for me, otherwise I would have added Jacques Brel and something from The Beatles, De Vlieger, Brabant (Guus Meeuwis) and Neil Diamond.

@Antonieq: Yes it is definitely a matter of deletion, because you have more favorites than you think. I had started with songs that I knew by heart and therefore had to get into it. I had written them down and selected 15 from them. Then, when entering an artist, another song comes up (Tears of a Clown) and then of course you have to delete it. And then you have 15 and then you go to the free choice, but unfortunately that didn't work for me.

My choice can be heard here .

@Disney,

It seems that free choice only applies to numbers that you add yourself in the empty boxes next to each letter.

However, it is not clear whether it may also be an existing one.

I'm not trying to make a general top.

For Country/TexMex/Americana that comes to mind:

Saint Behind the Glass - Los Lobos
Frank and Jesse James - Warren Zevon
The Night they Drove old Dixie Down - The Band
Highway Patrolman - Bruce Springsteen
Crystal Frontier - Calexico
Going back to Harlan - Emmylou Harris
Oye Isabel - Iguanas
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance - Gene Pitney
Ghost Riders in the Sky - Ramrods
Heart of Gold - Neil Young
Jolene-Dolly Parton
Blue Bayou - Roy Orbison
Distant Drums - Jim Reeves
Fairytale of New York - Pogues | Kirsty McColl
Blue Train - Robbie Robertson

En hors category: El Pantalon Blue Jean - Flaco Jiminez

@Dick and again that worthless top 3 sad, sad, sad,

Have a look.

Queen: I don't understand why anyone would like that. Bicycle, bycycle... My Bicycle, My Bicycle, who stole my bicycle?
Eagles: Okay
Deep Purple: OK
Boudewijn de Groot: mumps OK
Led Zeppelin: why does everyone choose Stairway to Heaven? That's one of their less good ones.
Adele: is good, but can only be judged in 10 years
Pink Floyd: see Led Zeppelin. 'Wish you were here' is a poppy song when they went mainstream
Coldplay: good but overrated
Den Bruce: The River is good, but kind of obvious

Bicycle Race is quite different from Bohemian Rhapsody :-)

Eagles, there are few bad ones indeed.

Deep Purple, Child in Time is starting to get boring there are others that are shorter and more powerful.

Boudewijn de Groot, funny that after about 40 years he is still the only Dutch greatest.

Led Zepp, see Deep Purple

Adele , indeed too early to give a real judgment about it, but I'm glad that Winehouse has been surpassed.

Floyd, many good ones, one day one day another

Coldplay , only know about "grab it" for 3 years which song belongs to which title.

Bruce , no chart feeling.

Would be in favor of not including songs younger than 3 or 4 years in the list so that accidental hit cases like now Triggerfinger can score high because they are too fresh for many people to listen to .

Didn't sound bad at 50% either, although a bit more volume and a few drinks too would help well

And it's been a while !!!

Voting has become a lot easier this year, but of course the choice remains great.

Make sure that your favorite sit there and vote again for the best 20 songs you think should be in the 2000 best songs ever.

Would Queen with the Bohemian Rhapsody are back at number 1? Or do you think that another artist with a different song should be at the top?

Use your voice for that. Vote now! You have until Friday 8:00 PM.

In no particular order my top 15 (at the moment). Actually, if I'm quite honest, my top 15 would be full of songs from Bruce Springsteen and Mark Knopfler. :-)

  1. Bruce Springsteen - Badlands
  2. The White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
  3. Guns' n Roses - November Rain
  4. Dire Straits - Telegraph Road
  5. Michael Jackson - Man In The Mirror
  6. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Under The Bridge
  7. Metallica - One
  8. Nirvana - Lithium
  9. The Beatles - While My Guitar Gently Weeps
  10. The Police - So Lonely
  11. Queen & amp; David Bowie - Under Pressure
  12. U2 - Sweetest Thing
  13. The Cranberries - Ode To My Family
  14. A-Ha - Take On Me
  15. The Monkees - Last Train To Clarksville

And 5 numbers (but there are of course many more) that I think are definitely missing from the list.

  1. Bruce Springsteen - You're missing
  2. AC / DC - Back in Black
  3. The Cure - Trust
  4. Mark Knopfler - Heart Full Of Holes
  5. Journey - Don't stop Believing

And ... Voted! :-)

Just have the ones I sent off as a vote.

If I had to erase everything and move on I probably wouldn't have finished a voting list by Easter.

Thought it was important that it doesn't contain Bohemian Rhapsody and no things like Anouk, so vote in opposite directions.

In the meantime I still have three weeks to practice via that site of the Top 2000 pop quiz in which I participate :)
