Former Raleigh designer Tom Williams acquired the rights to the Raleigh Safety Seven three-wheeler van in 1934 and the following year launched a development of this, as the Reliant. In 1953 came the Regal, Reliant’s first production car and in 1963, the Reliant Supervan III as seen here. This vehicle was used with varying degrees of success by organisations such as the Royal Mail and AA and was of course immortalised by Del-Boy in the BBC comedy series ‘Only Fools and Horses’ as the famous ‘Trotters Independent Trading’ van.
