When launched in 1963 the Vauxhall Viva was simplicity itself and announced Vauxhalls return to the 1-litre economy market after nearly 30 years. The distinctive curve of the side glass – hence the nickname – the ‘Coke bottle’ HB replaced the smaller ‘Biscuit Tin’ HA on 21st September 1969. During its four year life-span the smart, popular and succesful second generation Viva sold well over half a million worldwide.
