Suggestie:

Suggestion:
1. Add new field 'original stamp' for stamp items. This is useful in a number of cases (e.g. overprinted stamps, precancellations, fdcs, etc.). Now that information (in 4 languages) must be added to the details.
2. (after sufficient completion of the new field) Add extra options (or..) to easily retrieve (a.) the 'related' items or (b.) the original item from an item.
What does the community think about this?

In the short term I do not expect that there will be programming capacity for new ideas (I will not decide, but this is the experience).
Doesn't the function: copy already partially meet your needs? In that case, it is important to supplement the original stamp as much as possible first and to adjust the relevant boxes after copying.
In my control areas you will perish in the imprints. In the Russian Civil War period, there have been many factions that made overprints on stamps of the Russian Empire. These stamps with overprints belong to other countries such as Ukraine and Armenia.
Collectors of stamps of the Russian Empire distinguish between types of paper and the like. As soon as an imprint is put on it, this is usually no longer looked at. For 3 original stamps, 1 stamp is created with an overprint from a collector's perspective (of course there are three different stamps to be found physically).

Programming capacity: as a collector it is initially a matter of patience. But I hope that after the introduction of subscription fees, there will be more capacity from next year...
The need is different from being able to copy: the aim is to avoid having to enter the same data 4 times (1 per language) in an unstructured manner. Added value (in the long term) is, for example, simplifying the search for 'related items'. So also across the areas.
Regarding your comment about the stamps of the Russian Empire: everything depends in my opinion on whether one or more items are created. If a single item is chosen, one can still continue to describe the possible original stamps in the details...

I think it will increase the workload of the scarce managers even more.
In an ideal world, every importer would have to state the LD number of the original stamp (after looking it up) with the overprint stamp, but then also have to state the overprint variants with the original stamp. This in turn causes the problem that at least both must be present in LD. In short: the idea is good, but it will take my time until this is realized.

In my opinion, listing all imprint variants in the description is completely unnecessary. It would then be much better to work out the second part of my proposal...
The reason for my question is also because I want to add two to three thousand pre-cancellations to the catalog (sometime next year and/or later). And in principle the LD number of the original stamp stands for all pre-cancellations in the description (so 4x)!

Tip: create a separate text file on your computer, with a reference to the original seal in four languages,
Via Copy and Paste with the comments. Works fairly quickly if you work systematically.

I know that too... but my intention is also to contribute to a better catalogue! The click-through option is something a paper catalog cannot offer!

If a mention of an original stamp is a clickable relationship, then you could also show “stamps pointing to me” with the original stamp. Is only 1x maintenance. Kind of like you can click from a country to stamps of that country because those stamps say they belong to it.
But without capacity it won't be anything natural

Are you now asking for "intelligent" software that automatically knows which link to make?
That seems very surprising to me, without any human intervention.

'Uitgifte' was één zo'n geniale opzet. Helaas.
There should be more intelligent possibilities in the stamp section to bring together a selection in an overview 'with one click'.
'Issue' was one such genius set-up. Unfortunately. Is being disguised more and more so it is no longer usable.
My proposal to provide such a link based on Michel base number was misunderstood. Could be fully automatic without manual intervention. So don't hold back.
Remains about only on the basis of 'color' ... just start :)
I see your proposal in use on another site ('Variants ...'). But they do have a whole army of administrators on it. If you have about 200 editors/administrators, something like this can of course be built in in a few years for a catalog with more than 800,000 items. With a fraction of such an army too, at 200 years. But then you may not count the additional items that are added in those 200 years. They need to be treated afterwards.
What I mean by that is that on paper this is a very good proposal. In reality, on LD, you're not going to be much use for that for the next 20 years.

I understand that all this is a matter of labor: every solution requires filling in correct information...
So my question was also motivated by the fact that I want to add quite a few more stamps to the catalog (Belgium precancellations - my primary collection) and preferably do this in the right way all of a sudden. Also note that I do not have a Michel catalogue, so it is difficult for me to enter Michel numbers. By the way, I do not think that one has one with the precancellations - hand scroll cancels 1894-1938)
The solution I propose here only depends on the LD catalog itself.
If one wants to play it intelligently one could 'interpret' the details and the reference behind 'original seal no.' (and a number of similar descriptions) in the proposed new field...

Ah, just, I see that you have done a fantastic job regarding the pre-stamped of Belgium.
For that alone it would be a good solution.
Only, something like this has to be planned and will certainly not be for immediately.
But I think it could be on the list.
As a solution, from the imprint item, with a dual field (2 fields):
1. Imprint? -> check or not
2. If checked, a field 'LD item number' will appear (with a check whether the entered number is in use).
Remove = uncheck and save.
Relationship: 1 to 1 (derived by basis).
In the detail of the imprint copy, that number then becomes, as should be an LD number everywhere, a link.
In the basic item, that reference (or references) could be included as links.
As another solution, from the basic item:
a possibility to enter LD numbers in tabular form on the base item that refer to items where that seal is used as a basis (ie the reverse). Then you don't have to mention anything in the 'print' copy. You do it from the basic item (you still have to look it up if you would use the basic solution).
In the detail of the 'imprint' item, that link is then automatically shown (references left and right are used).
Relationship: 1 to many.
As a super deluxe addition, a button (if the item occurs in that reference table) where you can get (see) the items that refer to each other in one overview.
Sometimes something like this is easy to realize, but how the programming works on LD ... I have no idea. I'm just thinking :)

From my technical (IT) knowledge, I would think that we should build in as few conditions as possible: so leave it open for any related type, not just imprints. And why not also for variants, for example.
I also assume that adding one extra field (+ possibility to fill this in / to blank it out again) is the simplest - possibly with a check whether the original item is indeed in the catalogue. Normally, the stamp will always exist first, only then the overprint, the FDC, ...
But I also don't know how the programming works, so it's best to leave that to the real specialists!

We understand each other well: I indeed mean the same thing. I only noticed that it was very difficult to think about it, while I think that it could not be too bad. I also sometimes develop some kind of media wiki and this sounds like 'doable'. I think mediawiki has the 'what links here' feature in its Special pages by default. But without further knowledge under the hood, I can still be grossly wrong.

Gewoon simpel 'Relaties' ...
Mogen we dromen?

Just simple 'Relationships' ... To be added to any item via the form (left - right or right - left, it doesn't matter). In the item: 1 to many. Condition: a valid LD number within the section.
Can actually be used in several categories ... also in cigar bands, for example, misprints (varieties) occur.
Don't you want it? Don't use it.
Do you want it? Then take advantage of it...
If the item number is in the table of relations: the other side -> include (show) in a block of an item with the LD number as link.
Possibly display an additional (a useful, informative) field of that item next to it (interpretation). Eg. year for stamps, or title. As an additional luxury.
In my artwork below an example of how it could be presented on the user screen.
Can be used for all kinds of things (but mainly printing).
When adding an item with a print, and the original item is not there, this can be motivating as a collector (if you also own the item) to also add that item. Then as an adder you have really added a lot of added value. What the other thousands of collectors would like.
That's what makes the difference compared to paper catalogues.
They say 'see further nnnnn', but you have to look them all up and scroll back and forth.
1. On LD: right click, open in a new window (for 2 or three for example), arrange the windows next to each other ...
2. Or click on 'Relationships' in the item and get a screen where those items are listed as a selection...
That would be a tool that philatelists can enjoy.
Fill-in form (for adding or changing): method like theme, but then based on the LD numbers of the stamp section instead of a separate table with elements.
Can we dream?

For the sake of clarity, may I compare the proposed "Original Seal" field with the "Original Title" field in the Books section?
There you will get an overview of all items with the same original title. You can then further filter links if necessary.
Just look at the original title: " Gulliver's travels ".

What I learn from your proposal is that it is a good idea to add a hyperlink to every entered LD catalog number. Via that link you can then easily retrieve the underlying data...
Is that what you mean?
