Canary Islands is not a country, it is a community or province within the country that is Spain

I know, politically it is. But geographically it's situated more than 3500 km from the main land. More important there exist separate catalogues for Canarian cigar brands. It can be a separate collection interest. So we fill both 'countries'.

Ik weet het, politiek gezien is dat zo. Maar geografisch ligt het meer dan 3500 km van het vaste land. Belangrijker is dat er aparte catalogi zijn voor Canarische sigarenmerken. Het kan een apart incassobelang zijn. We vullen dus beide 'landen'.

What does distance have to do with being the same country, it is NOT a colony, for which it is not considered a country.

Wat heeft afstand te maken met het zijn van hetzelfde land, het is GEEN kolonie waarvoor het niet als een land wordt beschouwd.

It is just to indicate a collectors area.  It has nothing to do with political or administrative division.
Of course it is Spain.
But it is also true that tourists going there prefer to speak of a 'Trip to the Canary Islands' than of a 'Trip to Spain'. It sounds more expensive :)

Unfortunately, the label in the Cigra bands category is 'Countries'.  It better should be 'Regions'.  As it is labelled in the Stamps category.
Since so many beautiful cigar bands are issued in Spain (country), it is an advantage that they can be displayed here in 2 different groups.

Het is alleen bedoeld om een verzamelgebied aan te duiden. Het heeft niets te maken met politieke of administratieve verdeeldheid.
Natuurlijk is het Spanje.
Maar het is ook waar dat toeristen die erheen gaan liever spreken van een 'Reis naar de Canarische Eilanden' dan van een 'Reis naar Spanje'. Het klinkt duurder :)

Helaas is het label in de categorie Cigra-bands 'Landen'. Het zou beter 'Regio's' moeten zijn. Omdat het is gelabeld in de categorie Postzegels.
Omdat er zoveel mooie sigarenbandjes worden uitgegeven in Spanje (land), is het een voordeel dat ze hier in 2 verschillende groepen kunnen worden weergegeven.

The situation in the cigar bands section is not so complicated as in the stamps section, but hopefully it avoids future discussions about former states like Yugoslavia, East Germany,..

I also had a second idea: make the name 'Canary Islands (Spain)'?  To indicate it's about a region of Spain.  and not a country by itself.

And a third one via the administration panel (for the moderators): 'Onderhoud verzamelgebied', 'Naam variaties'.  There you can also put the country name.  As a user you won't see it, but in the search results (if you search for Spain) you wil see the difference.

Let's hope Pedro appreciates the efforts of the LD team vitolin ?

The field countries/regions is plural. Both Canary Islands and Spain can be filled in separately.

Het veld landen/regio's is meervoud. Zowel de Canarische Eilanden als Spanje kunnen afzonderlijk worden ingevuld.

Hello again, I have never tried to remove Canary Islands, which is a community of the Kingdom of Spain, for me I have no problem, it was just for information.

Hallo nogmaals, ik heb nooit geprobeerd de Canarische Eilanden te verwijderen, wat een gemeenschap is van het Koninkrijk Spanje, voor mij heb ik geen probleem, het was alleen voor informatie.
Met vriendelijke groeten
