Hallo,
Ik ben vrij nieuw in het verzamelen van stripboeken. Ik vroeg mij iets af, ik wil mijn storm stripboeken (don lawrence) goed opbergen en in hoesjes stoppen. Zijn achterkartonnen per se nodig en moeten deze dan precies dezelfde maat hebben als het stripboek zelf of kunnen ze ook kleiner zijn??

I'm fairly new to comic book collecting. I was wondering something, I want to store my storm comics (don lawrence) properly and put them in covers. Are backboards absolutely necessary and do they have to be exactly the same size as the comic book itself or can they also be smaller?

Backing boards worden alleen gebruikt bij (Amerikaanse) comics, die te dun zijn om zelfstandig rechtop te staan. Nergens voor nodig bij gewone Europese softcovers.

Backing boards are only used with (American) comics, which are too thin to stand upright on their own. Not necessary for normal European soft covers.

Ingeval je stripboeken welke je net heb gekocht en voorzichtig hebt gelezen goed wil bewaren zijn er vanzelfsprekend basale tips :
Een stevige boekenkast waarvan de planken niet doorbuigen;
De strips straks naast elkaar, dat ze niet gaan krommen, ik zet ze horizontaal, sommigen verzamelaars leggen ze op elkaar maar volgens mij is dat juist niet goed.
geen vochtige ruimte, en geen zonlicht want dan verkleuren de rugjes
Tere oudere stripboeken kan je in zuurvrije stevige plastic hoezen opbergen, die zijn er vanaf goedkoop tot "veels" te duur. Goedkope plastic hoezen voorzichtig soms kleven die aan de front en backcovers.
Hou je boekenkamers stofvrij en controlleer op droog/zilvervisjes, die houden van papier met name houthoudend.

In case you want to keep your comic books that you have just bought and read carefully, there are of course basic tips:
A sturdy bookcase whose shelves do not bend;
The strips will be next to each other, so that they will not curve, I put them horizontally, some collectors put them on top of each other, but I think that is just not good.
no humid space, and no sunlight because then the spines will discolour.
You can store delicate older comic books in acid-free sturdy plastic sleeves, which are from cheap to "much" too expensive. Cheap plastic covers sometimes gently stick to the front and back covers.
Keep your book rooms dust-free and check for dry / silverfish, which love paper, especially wood.
Furthermore, there will undoubtedly be more tips on the internet

Ik heb dan nog een vraag. Hoe weet ik of de hoesjes zuurvrij zijn? Ik heb ze nu besteld vanaf een stripboeken webshop (stripaap), maar er stond nergens of ze zuurvrij zijn. (Omdat zij een "speciaalzaak" zijn ga ik er wel vanuit dat ze zuurvij zijn.)

I have one more question then. How do I know if the covers are acid-free? I have now ordered them from a comic book webshop (comic monkey), but it was nowhere stated whether they are acid-free. (Because they are a "specialty store" I assume that they are sour.)

Zuurvrij moet je aan de stripaap vragen; ze moeten van weekmakervrij en zuurvrije hard-PVC-folie zijn gemaakt. Overigens nette plastic hoesjes van een een steviger materiaal dan de Hema/Action zachte mapjes voldoen voor recente strips ook best. Recente strips zijn over het algemeen al geplastificeerd ed.

Acid-free you have to ask the strip monkey; they must be made of plasticizer-free and acid-free rigid PVC film. Incidentally, neat plastic covers made of a sturdier material than the Hema / Action soft folders also suffice for recent comics. Recent comics are generally already plastic coated.

Omdat ik dus zo nieuw ben in verzamelen en dus ook het hele concept van catawiki dacht ik dat catawiki gewoon een soort marktplaats was maar dan voor veilingen. Ik heb geen idee van de hechte gemeenschappen op deze site etc. Ik zal er voortaan aan denken om mijn steentje bij te dragen ;)

Because I am so new to collecting and therefore also the whole concept of Catawiki, I thought that Catawiki was just a kind of marketplace, but for auctions. I have no idea about the close-knit communities on this site etc. I will remember to do my bit from now on;)

Recent ben ik uit jeugdsentiment begonnen met het verzamelen van de oude oblongboekjes van Kapitein Rob en Eric de Noorman. Nu ben ik op zoek naar een goede manier om deze boekjes te bewaren.
Kan iemand mij een tip geven, bijv. wat voor hoesjes en waar die te koop zijn. Ik hoop dat iemand mij helpen kan.
