Gr,
Matthijs
Disney is especially good at launching titles, sometimes first with and later without a sleeve. People also sometimes lose the sleeve or break it, while the remaining DVD with standard plastic cover can still be considered complete. Do both versions have to be entered as separate items?
You could even enter the sleeve as a separate item, as is often the case with an empty box. Incidentally, I am not in favor of that. I don't really understand why you would see an empty box as an item. Isn't that just an incomplete copy? You don't just collect the cover of a book, right?

Hoi Matthijs,
Hi Matthijs,
A few years ago it was decided, for the sake of clarity, to equalize the phenomenon of boxes in the sections Books, Comics, Plates & amp; CDs and DVD / Video / Blueray. A box within Catawiki is something that contains multiple items that may in turn be included separately in the catalog. One user wants to see the individual items (content and box) in their own collection, the other user only wants to see the full box. That is a personal choice, and Catawiki offers both types of users that freedom.
If one item is in a dust jacket, a slipcase, a sleeve, etc ..., we assume that this is the most complete form in which an object is scattered and that such an envelope is part of the item. In such a case, we only include the item once, preferably with the front and back of the envelope as image 1 and 2 and the bare item itself as image 3. Users who miss the envelope can add it to their collection as a note and are of course also free to label it as new for themselves.
Hopefully this answers your questions.

Beste Arco,
Gr,
Matthijs
Dear Arch,
OK that's pretty clear. Does that mean:
If I see an entry without a sleeve, can I replace the photos with those of the sleeve? The importer may not have a sleeve and may not understand or appreciate this adjustment. Example catawiki nr3371887 (Fantasia) I have with sleeve. The photos of the cover in the plastic sleeve are exactly the same so I can assume that it is an incomplete copy. However?
If there is or appears to be a discrepancy between a copy with a sleeveless copy, can I add a new copy? Example Bolt catalog nr 6031269 vs 1122093
Everything just to be on the safe side because I would like to stick to the conventions to maintain uniformity. And sometimes it's all about the details.

Matthijs

Voordat ik me suf ga staren...
Yes, we have the same problem with books without dust jackets. If another user later finds a copy with a dust jacket, then image 1 is supposed to end up in place 3 and the dust jacket in places 1 and 2. That completes the description. The fact that existing 'supporters' are not informed of such a change is a shortcoming of Catawiki for which there is currently no solution.
Before I stare dull ... What's the apparent difference between those two Bolts?

I think you should disapprove the change to mwb222 , Arco or another DVD manager. I think those blu-ray discs are also sold separately and so it is not the same version.
With DVDs it is always difficult, but there are indeed a lot of DVDs that have the same front on both the cover and the case they are in. This is often sold as a deluxe version or special edition (only a cover around it!), But it is really a different version than the separate version.
So be careful with replacing the images of the front sides. In the case of Fantasia, it seems clear to me that the cover version is a separate version. I can't check it now, because I'm abroad, but I think I've seen these blu-ray discs without a protective cover (so only in a blue plastic cover).

It's pretty simple in itself: if a DVD is sold in Amaray (or something like that), but the same Amaray (or something like that) is also sold in a sliding box, then we ultimately want the version with sliding box in the catalog, not without a slip case. For an item with so many separate components, you have to make a workable choice.

Beste DisneyMeentwijc,
Gr,
Matthijs
Dear Disney Meentwijc,
To avoid incorrect or correct input, I have therefore first submitted this problem via this forum. Especially in the case of Disney, there are sometimes several versions that are very similar. Whether they are different expenses remains a question. Take Fantasy. The inlay of the plastic box of the version I have with sleeve is exactly the same as the version of the inlay without sleeve. Just look at my copy where I also scanned the inlay in addition to the sleeve for a back. In the case of Fantasia, the inlay in the plastic box therefore differs from the sleeve. I scan all my DVDs and Blu-rays myself and sometimes I have multiple editions of the same movie. Well, you are a collector or not. In this case I only have the sleeved version so I can't make any further comparison.
My suspicion is that Disney often releases a 'standard' version after the sleeved version. This is actually just the same version only without a sleeve. My experience is that you also have to wait and see which version you get exactly after an order at bol.com or at amazon or zavvi. Sometimes the version with sleeve is also indicated there, but you will eventually receive a version without a sleeve even though the barcode is correct. A source that I often use to check things is disneyinfo.nl. There barcode 8717418295448 is indicated as keepcase + slipcase. So my correction of scans must be correct.
It is important to clarify this first. I have almost all Disney DVDs and Blu-rays and also about 10,000 titles to import, so I prefer clarity in advance than having to correct everything later.

Matthijs

Zoiets...
Yes, it really is a mess in that area. You see it a lot more, also with the TV series Penoza, for example. The first set out is with a sliding box and then they will deliver them without a sliding box; it is probably just a new edition, but they never put that up. Yesterday at Mediamarkt I saw seasons 1 to 3 without sliding box and the farm-fresh part 4 with sliding box. First come, first served. Something like ...

Beste DisneyMeentwijc,
Dear DisneyMeentwijc,
Well, something about my background then. Actually, I've been a collector all my life. First stamps. Later I also started to trade in that to be able to pay for the collection. Then at the age of 12 I also started with comics, books, singles, LPs, later CDs. Except for the CDs, I sold all of that to make room. Oh yes, in between also saving flags, plastic bags, sugar bags. Also all done away again. When the DVDs came on the market I started collecting DVDs. You then paid 50 guilders for the first Disney releases. I also collect music only as MP3 I don't have enough space to buy everything on CD.
I am also a fan of Disney so I also collect McDonalds figurines and WDCC figurines. I actually have to photograph all of the McDonalds figures.
Later on I also started to search a lot on markets, via traders, Marketplace, etc. If you keep collecting for more than 30 years, it will automatically become a lot. I occasionally sell something when I have a duplicate or something, but that should not have a name.
Everything well organized and cataloged in Excel, so it can be found. And I always want quality, so I leave rubbish and that makes my collection of good to high quality. Also, I have always scanned my DVDs, CDs and Blu-rays from the start. Sometimes that has to be over now because the quality of 25 years ago was not that good.
Now I try to enter something on Catawiki every now and then. A gigantic job that will never be finished.
