You could possibly use a sub-series for specific versions of a model, for example a station wagon, but it is not really necessary.

I now use it to enter auto folders
-manufacturer: brand (e.g. Volvo or Kia)
-series: type (e.g. 1800 or Picanto)
For auto folders, sub-sequence is not necessary
Is this OK for car brochures?

Unfortunately, this doesn't work that way with LD  . A printing company is arrested. The same printing company, with different names, is the same printing company. Fabrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre - Real Casa de la Moneda (RCM-FNMT)
Don't say this, because it's not right!
First take a look at the list of the printing works and like many other lists, that list is a mess where there are no unambiguous guidelines to discover.
How this happened?
The administrators responsible for this are partly responsible for this because they each think and act individually. Consultation is not or sometimes only partially.
And almost every week a new topic comes up on the forum, which is then discussed, but not followed by decisions.
It is like a chicken coop: a lot of cackling, but few eggs.
Sometimes I think it is deliberate to give the collectors the impression that they may have something to say, an outlet without consequences.

As a 'Belgian' I haven't eaten much peanut butter.
Never even tasted it.
But indeed no cheese.
Well, bread toppings.
Then put it under the theme of nutrition/food.
And kind of sandwich fillings.
That's the theory.
It will always remain an interpretation of the importer or the person viewing it.
If 'something' is big enough, you can still give it its own theme.
You can of course classify beer as drinks; even if there are more than 8000 beer related items?
Coca-Cola (of which there are many collectors) even drunk? 764 items.
Soft drinks 886 items.
Wine 214
Whiskey 411
Alcoholics 198
Juice 198
Gin 103
Mineral water 252
...I didn't look any further....
And further.
A series name is by definition from 1 manufacturer.
In my opinion, you can apply this perfectly to car brochures.
But just look at series.
Still plenty of work to get everything neatly organized.
Series with more than 20 manufacturers are no exception.
To take a very extreme case.
Series: Smurfs, The
663 items
177 manufacturers
And 87 have not yet been filled in...
L.D. It is and remains a wiki.
With its pros and cons.
And interpretations.

Then I don't understand why, after such a discussion, arbitrariness is the rule and examples of the opposite are the norm rather than the exception. But given other discussions, it unfortunately does not come as a surprise.

Welcome to LD Esquerdo .

To keep the name of a printing company, as it was at that time or still is Esquerdo is also my preference. But there has been a discussion about this before. The result was negative. Unfortunately !.

Germany got away well, this one is correct.

Charles1971 When two companies merge, a new company is often created. FNMT did not exist before 1893 and therefore did not print stamps before that time. Fábrica del Sello also did nothing with 'monedas', for which the M in FNMT stands.

And if so, then it's time to drop Walsall, Cartor, Harrison, Waddington and Questa. Walsall and Cartor are ISP and Waddington was taken over by Questa which was taken over by De La Rue, which had also taken over Harrison.

actually make use of the possibilities, that's why I mentioned AH, then you'll drown.

But peanut butter is not cheese

And I don't think cheese can be a Theme: The Theme would then be nutrition/food.

What I wanted to say: don't make it a forest of series and sub-series!
(although for me some adjustments need to be made to series, but that is separate from this section)
michel-stahlberg
Of course we understand that the adjustment you want to make takes time, and take that time

Can anyone add to the list of printing companies "Fábrica del Sello". This entity printed stamps until it merged in 1893 with the "Casa de la Moneda" to form the "Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre."

Where does this belong?
This is now in the catalog in Other > Objects > Postcard.
But there are many more in Postcards > Themes > Postcard
I want to post a few more, hence my question.

Did anyone say that you absolutely have to complete that sub-series?
Oh no.
Complete when it is 'useful'.
As Collectioneur already indicated: in certain cases one field is useful; in another case not. Or sometimes one is 'missing'.
Then you use size field type.

Presumably someone has counted the different album titles of Ridder Reinhart (in Dutch); and then we arrive at 8+1+2 = 11. The two Ohee's were given a different title, but are otherwise just reprints of an existing story with a different cover.

Hopefully people don't count Ri*k's albums of "De davendes van Dees Dubbel" (with or without Cesar) in the same way, because there are 24 such Ohee's in that case + 5 Fenix's.
I am still working on a complete and up-to-date overview of Dees Dubbel. I have already checked the spelling in the catalog for the editions in Het Volk, Ohee, Magnum and Fenix, as well as the correspondence of the story titles and story numbers; and also added numerous images.

Delete is the other option Esquerdo . In fantasyland, without postage, at least they are still included in the catalogue.
As said, or someone must know something better?.

Charles1971, I don't think that equating studies and proofs for real stamps with fantasy work that has nothing to do with stamps will contribute positively to the catalog's reputation.

Perhaps a new usage type is a better option.

Yes, I agree, this has also been mentioned before. In the "series" for example 1800 is sufficient regardless of if it is BMW, Volvo and even though it has been mentioned in my opinion that the sub series is unnecessary in brochures................... ..

I think color proofs are indeed not included with stamps Esquerdo and Lyonesse. They have no postage value. Personally, I think it is best to include this unpublished color proof, a three-strip, not included in a trusted catalogue, in fantasyland?. Or someone must know something better.

Subset peanut butter, laundry detergent.
What is the Theme field for?
By the way, cheese is already part of the theme.
And you can then add peanut butter to the species.
I call that optimal use of fields.

Volvo 1800 and BMW 1800?
It's just a matter of how you select.
You only have 1 Volvo 1800 and 1 BMW 1800.
Select manufacturer Volvo and series 1800 and you get the Volvos.
Select manufacturer BMW and series 1800 and you get the BMWs.
If you only select 1800, yes, you will of course get both.
And if you take BMW 1800 as the series name, for example, you are faced with the fact that BMW is already listed in the manufacturer field.
When you collect Volvo what do you use as your 1st selection?
Volvo anyway.
So you can never see BMW or other brands even when using other fields/selections.
