Het is niet heel erg zinvol om op reeksnaam te willen zoeken. Ik ben nu bezig met Amerikaanse IC en zie dat daar gewoon maar wat wordt ingevuld als reeksnaam. Dus als je denkt dat je alles hebt met reeks A dan blijken er nog steeds met reeks B ook aanwezig te zijn en die vind je dan niet. Zoek gewoon op titel...

It is not very useful to want to search by series name. I am now working on American IC and see that there is just something filled in as a series name. So if you think you have everything with series A, then there are still series B that are also present and you will not find them. Just search by title...

Misschien begrijp ik je verkeerd, maar ik zie het toch anders. Er zijn 214 titels binnen de reeks Classics Illustrated en ik verzamel de hele reeks (zoals de meeste CI verzamelaars volgens mij). Ik doe dus niet anders dan selecteren op de reeks en dat gaat voor de Nederlandse uitgaven ook prima, aangezien de beheerders (waaronder jij vermoed ik) goed werk hebben gedaan om alle invoer netjes te houden. 

Mijn punt ging niet over verkeerde invoer, maar om de bewuste keuze om de reclame-uitgaven onder een aparte reeksnaam op te nemen. Dat zal voor vrijwel alle verzamelaars dus verwarrend werken. Is er iets op tegen als ik ze (met de juiste subaanduiding) omzet naar de hoofdreeks van Classics Illustrated? Tenslotte is dat wat er gebeurt bij andere Classics reeksen met uitgavevarianten. Het is uiteindelijk gewoon een aparte druk (alleen dan zonder prijsaanduiding). Ik wil natuurlijk het werk ervoor doen, maar dan moeten we het er wel over eens zijn dat het zou helpen om de vindbaarheid te vergroten.

Maybe I misunderstand you, but I see it differently. There are 214 titles within the Classics Illustrated series and I collect the whole series (as do most CI collectors I believe). So I do nothing but select on the series and that also works fine for the Dutch editions, since the administrators (including you, I suspect) have done a good job of keeping all input tidy.

My point was not about mis-entry, but about the conscious choice to include advertising expenditure under a separate series name. That will therefore be confusing for almost all collectors. Is there anything wrong with converting them (with the appropriate sub-title) to the main series of Classics Illustrated? After all, that's what happens with other Classics series with edition variants. In the end it is just a separate edition (only without a price indication). Of course I want to do the work for it, but then we have to agree that it would help to increase findability.

Morits Kun je ook aangeven wat de rationale daarvoor was? Het is nl. niet consequent met de conventie in andere reeksen. Reclame-uitgaven (bijv. met een bedrijfsnaam in de druk) staan altijd gewoon bij de reeks waarin ze thuishoren. Deze promotie-uitgaven van Classics waren niet anders. Volgens mij heb ik een goed argument gegeven om ze in de hoofdreeks op te nemen. Weet jij nog welk argument Arco had om daar van af te wijken? (we kunnen het hem helaas niet meer zelf vragen)

Morits Can you also specify what the rationale for that was? It is not consistent with the convention in other series. Advertising expenses (eg with a company name in the print) are always simply listed with the series in which they belong. These Classics promotional releases were no different. I think I've made a good case for including them in the main sequence. Do you remember what argument Arco had for deviating from that? (unfortunately we can't ask him anymore)

Dat een discussie met Arco heftig kon zijn weet ik alles van en ik wil niets afdoen aan zijn grote inzet, maar als jij niet meer weet wat zijn argumentatie destijds was, dan kunnen we het toch ook herzien?

Ik zie nu trouwens dat in de invulinstructies voor strips staat: 16.8 RECLAME UITGAVEN
Promotie-uitgaven, reclame uitgaven etc. krijgen als reeksnaam "Reclame uitgaven <uitgever/merk>": Blijkbaar wordt dat selectief toegepast, maar ik moet mezelf dus corrigeren dat dit tegen de regels zou zijn. Dan nog vind ik dat de regel hier niet van toepassing zou moeten zijn, omdat het bij Classics gaat om promotie van de strip zelf en niet van een externe instantie. Het zijn simpelweg extra drukken zonder prijsopgave. Het blijft heel onlogisch dat die niet zijn opgenomen bij de reguliere reeks.

Hoe dan ook, ik zal het laten rusten en accepteren dat dit (helaas) één van de vele plaatsen is waar LastDodo het werken met reeksnamen (volgens mij essentieel voor verzamelaars) onnodig lastig maakt.

Promotional releases, advertising releases, etc. are given the series name "Advertising releases ": Apparently this is applied selectively, but I must correct myself that this would be against the rules. Even then, I think the rule should not apply here, because Classics is about promoting the comic itself and not an external agency. They are simply extra printings with no price quote. It remains very illogical that they are not included in the regular series.

Anyway, I'll put it to rest and accept that this is (unfortunately) one of the many places where LastDodo makes working with string names (essential for collectors in my opinion) unnecessarily cumbersome.

Bij de superbeheerders ligt het verzoek op tafel om de indeling van Classics Illustrated te evalueren. Afhankelijk van de uitkomst zal het zo blijven of is er mogelijk voortschrijdend inzicht om iets te veranderen.
