Hello

I've only just got an account, and I'm already adding my comics, now I'm starting with my jommekes comics, it's probably just me, but how can I tell from an album of jommeke what year it is?

For example, if I want to insert nr 31 handsome mataboe, the album of 1990 and 1997 looks like my copy except for the back.

I can't find the year almost anywhere in the albums?

Does anyone know the answer to this?
thanks in advance

Regards
Koen

The best thing is: Select 'first' edition. Look up the year of the first edition of the last album on the back cover of your album. That is most likely the year of your album.

Otherwise, you can also search the full list for back covers that are identical to the back cover of your album (s).

all publications of jommeke are far from being in the catalog. I have prints from the 1970s in black ink, and red ink. With three different first pages. Can anyone clarify the year of release of these series?

I would say, put those Jommekes that are not there yet in CataWiki. Leave the year blank and add it.

Then post a message in this forum about the Jommekes and ask other collectors for the year. I think a lot of collectors will be very happy with your input and want you.

Are your Jommekes not in a Matla or another comic book catalog?

But yes, with Jommeke you actually have a very unfortunate layout. You have the Kapoentjes editions, the Kapoentjes editions and editions of the People. Actually, all those publications are of the People. It is actually better to place the uncolored Jommekes in one series, namely Jommeke 1st series Het Volk and then Jommeke colored series Het Volk.

Nero also includes "Kapoentjes editions" and they do not get a separate section. .

Nick.

Jommeke's layout was made in consultation with the greatest collector of that series. That seemed the purest classification at the time.
If you extend your theory, we can also place everything under Ballon, since that is actually just Het Volk. (;-)

We are still working hard on Nero. It is sometimes even more complicated there, I understood.

But I am not a specialist in the publishing history of Het Volk.

At Jommeke you will find a lot of albums of which there are no images yet .

I am strongly wondering whether they exist. The cause is of course Matla, who is blindly taken over by everyone.

@Arco: If you are going to put everything under Balloon then you are indeed not a specialist in the field of those issues.

Capon issues and the Volk issues are one and the same series. Ballon books has taken over those funds. A bit straightforward.

Nick

ps. can you explain to me the difference between the Kapoentjes edition and the Kapoentjes editions? Maybe check which titles fall under which heading?

ps2. And if we then also split Nero into the Volk editions and Capoentjes editions, we are making it unnecessarily complicated here.

Still let me know that the Kapoentje was the youth supplement of the newspaper Het Volk. This from 1947 to 1980. The comics of Jommeke, Nero, Thomas Pips and others. have all appeared in that youth supplement (Het Kapoentje), the publisher ...

So that comment about Ballon ???

Nick.

Jommeke is a soup in itself. No wonder Matla ripped his pants on it.

Have a look at the history of this one. Yellow becomes orange .

Defining album ranges is based on subtle differences in how they are published.
I can actually agree with Jommeke's new classification (it was originally different), but actually one should say what the definitions are for each album series, ie how do we distinguish one album series from another.

And finally something that has long been on my mind:

The People 1st series
The People 2nd series
The People 3rd series
The People 4th series

should be:

Jommeke - Het Volk 1st series
Jommeke - Het Volk 2nd series
Jommeke - Het Volk 3rd series
Jommeke - Het Volk 4th series

Catawiki doesn't have a tree structure and (probably) never will, hence.

should be

For what purpose? You always only see the books from the series you are currently in, so it seems a rather unnecessary extension ...
Just open a Jommeke and then click on Album series ...
See for yourself .

You will only find such an extension in Catawiki with heroes who play in crossovers at the same publisher.

For what purpose?

Because Catawiki does not have a tree structure.

Take a look at 'Album series': and look up 'Het Volk' ( nb should actually be 'Volk, Het').
You don't even know what it's about. Nero, Jommeke, Thomas Pips, Dees Dubbel? There are 'Het Volk' first series of about ten Heroes.

If you type in 'Jommeke' during a search operation, you should find all album series with Jommeke.

I know that the 'Album series' under 'Comics' in the left column will appear if you choose the 'Hero' Jommeke, but that left column is category specific.

I'm just thinking of the poor user who wants to look something up. I now know how to do that, for me it is not necessary.

A search function with wildcards would of course also solve a lot.

Searching for 'Free Flight' or 'Signed', yes, I get that, but who is going to search non-existent album series created only for use in Catawiki (xxx issues)? These are only to subdivide series if you are in a series. And to make the Export list readable in Excel.
You don't search for 'Oberon expenses' or 'Lombard expenses', do you?

I am searching for Lombard Collection or Blue Series (should be Suske en Wiske - Blue Series) or Red Series (aka Uncoloured series, should be Suske en Wiske - Red Series), Suske en Wiske - Two-color Series etc .

And to stay with Jommeke. If you do a search for 'Jommeke', then only an experienced user will know that you have to click on the 'Hero' Jommeke to see all the albums.
Maybe this is what separates the 'Hero' Jommeke from the second-rate hits. In bold at the front or something?

You're not looking for 'Oberon issues' or 'Lombard issues', do you?

So you do bye. I collect all of Jommeke's uncolored strips. The "Het Volk" aka Kapoentjes editions. So only the uncolored. As Scam indicates, they should be listed under Jommeke - 1st series uncolored.

So it is indeed searched under "editions". See eg Asterix, I am only interested in the original Dutch series, I will search under Asterix - Illustrated Press editions and Amsterdam Book editions.

An administrator should still not tell a user what he or she does. cannot do with the Catalog.

Nick.

Exactly. And that is why the selection filters entered true you can arrange just about everything. And also so . Because Catawiki cannot include every user wish as a separate menu option. And because we thought the series names a. Long enough for the narrow space we had on the left and b. did not want to have thousands and thousands extra in terms of manageability. Life is made up of choices. For Catawiki, for the administrators, but also for the users.

The last title on the list (The Jam Budding Ghost) appeared in 1963.

The backside otherwise corresponds to other reprints dated 1963, such as 3232339 , 849071 , 1271377 and 1715927 .

What is the real first edition of Jommeke's 'secret assignment'?

You have the a version which is a second edition (just modified) and the b version which is a first edition .

a version http: //www.catawiki. nl / catalog / comics / series-heroes / jommeke / 4916331-secret-assignment

b version http://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/strips/series-helden/jommeke/ 23675-secret-command

(sorry, still unable to post a link)

Is this change correct?

I'd list both of those as first editions unless someone knows something more. There are more Jommekes where the title page differs

Handsome Mataboe a Handsome Mataboe b

The pirate 's treasure a The pirate's treasure b

The modifier informed me the following:

~~ The publisher mention at the bottom center was first used on the album "the soap king". All older albums mentioned in this way are reprints

Soap King is from 1971.

So the date is at least 1971 and we have to adjust (remove) those a and b .

Format is also slightly different and the cover is also smoother than those from the 1960s.

It now stands nicely next to its brother with the same characteristics but without the publisher on the title page.

First edition '66:

Reprint from '71 without publisher:

Those Jommekes!

Should I also make this a 1966 first printing?

http://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/strips/series-helden/jommeke/5003423-de-samsons

Or is that not possible due to the spelling of the imprint?
