Hoe kan ik het verschil of de verschillen tussen de albums De Monsters uit 1978 en De Monsters uit 1979 zien? Ik ben erg benieuwd, ik kan namelijk maar geen verschil ontdekken. ;-)

De versie uit 1978 heeft twee pagina's minder.

Als het niet bij Bijzonderheden staat, zou je ervan uit mogen gaan dat het jaartal ergens in het album zelf vermeld is.
Bij vergelijking van de scans valt op dat de zwarte titel op de voorkant verschillend uitgelijnd is. Bij de "eerste druk" uit 1979 staat hij wat verder naar links ten opzichte van de rode reekstitel en het blauwe cijfer 22.
(En dat wil in elk geval zeggen dat de enige verkoper met een eigen foto hem bij de verkeerde editie heeft gezet.)

Just kidding, because that information is of course not correct ;-)
If it is not listed under Details, you should assume that the year is mentioned somewhere in the album itself.
When comparing the scans, it is striking that the black title on the front is differently aligned. With the "first edition" from 1979 it is a little further to the left compared to the red series title and the blue number 22.
(Which means in any case that the only seller with his own photo to the wrong edition.)

Precies. De verschillen zitten volgens mij ook alleen in de andere positionering van titel en volgnummer.

Exactly. I think the differences are only in the different positioning of title and serial number.

@Boekenmagazijn: Nog even in het album gekeken en inderdaad, er staat een jaartal in het album dat ik hier heb, te weten D/1978/0044/72. Kan ik mijn exemplaar dan als de 1978 variant kwalificeren?

Dat "Wettelijk Depot" is waarschijnlijk in alle drukken hetzelfde.
(Sprekend uit algemene ervaring, want van Paling en Ko weet ik eigenlijk niets af.)
That "Legal Deposit" is probably the same in all editions.
(Speaking from general experience, because I don't really know anything about Ealing and Ko.)

@Arco: Maar als depositionering van titel en volgnummer het enige verschil is, hoe kan er dan worden vastgesteld dat deze twee drukken ook echt uit twee verschillende jaren zijn? Kan het dan niet ook gewoon een afwijkende druk binnen hetzelfde jaar zijn? Wie heeft dit dan besloten, vraag ik me dan af.

Heb ze beide op 1979 gezet, want dat de eerste druk uit dat jaar is, en dat dat jaartal er niet in staat, is al langer bekend.
Have them both set to 1979, because that is the first edition from that year, and it has been known for some time that the year is not there.
@Arco: Ja. Dan krijg je zo'n 1979(a) en 1979(b) verhaal, toch? Dat lijkt mij dan ook het beste. Bedankt voor het meedenken en aanpassen. :-)
