The inside page of the comic 'Tintin' contains the following statement:

Copyright 1947 Casterman
copyright 1956 Casterman
copyright renewed 1984 Castermam

library of Congress Catalog Card Number R 205198

D 1967/0053/29.

Does "copiright renewed 1984" mean that this is a first edition?

No, it remains a reprint.

at most a first edition of reissue. Do you have an example of an album?

Sorry ... that's what I meant 'first edition of reissue'

I added the comic under number: 4561485

Not much has changed in the album from the previous editions. So in this case it is a reprint. They may have re-signed the copyright contracts in 1984, but that didn't happen with the album.

A copyright renewal is a legal matter and indeed nothing creative.

How do you generally recognize a first edition of Tintin >?

I myself have a Tintin from 1974 "Tintin in Africa" in almost new condition.

Only the weird thing is I can't even find these in the catalog,

what is the value ?

INFO

copyright renewed 1974

At Tintin there is no golden rule to recognize the first editions.

The back of the album is usually decisive.

Tintin in Africa from '74 is certainly not the first press.

If you enter the title you get this result , now you only have to compare the backs. You can also select the type of cover first.

The value will not be very high, unless Hergé himself has signed it.
