I've asked this before, but again: I would like to be able to use the book type: "integral binding". Especially a number of books by Bruna SF such as 2010 and Asimov's Foundation trilogy have this connection. I now see that Paperback has been filled in there, while it must be Integral binding.

An integral binding is a bound book with a soft cover.

The 1st edition of Dagbreker from 1986 by Bruna is an integral binding.

Bruna also has put it on the back itself: this is a better back ...

Okay, Morits, thanks

Can you tell by the white threads when you look into the band from above? because paperbacks are usually glued

I see that it is not yet available as a separate book type

A paperback can also be sewn, but the spine is then glued to the inside and the 3 sides are trimmed flush with the pages.

The spine of an integral binding (just like in hard cover bound books) free from the inside if you unfold the book and the cover sticks out from the pages.

An integral binding is an embodiment of a bound book.

This is a book that consists of a book block and a book binding which is mechanically joined in the middle of the endpapers and the glue over material on the two boards.

An integral tape consists of a piece of pre-printed cardboard of approximately 250 grams, with all sides folded over by approximately 1 cm and glued.

This in contrast to the usual book binding, which consists of 2 boards, 1 spine board and the covering material, eg linen or printed paper.

The integral binding was mainly bound at Boekbinderij Stokkink in Amsterdam, which worked with a special integral binding machine built by the Oostveen company.

Bruna released this binding method under the name of Beterback.

The integral binding method was very popular for textbooks and travel guides.

The flexible use and the good opening were important, as was the light weight for the school bags. But the favorable bid price was also important to the publisher.

With greeting,
