TTv input of a van Goor edition I came across 4 series of Oud Goud. New and old are entered interchangeably. I want to clear that, but if there is someone who has more knowledge and feels called to .......... If not, I will try.

Soon I won't see any that are in the wrong sequence.

Those are just reprints in the 1st series . With a different cover design, admittedly, but not yet a new series. If you sort by Year you will see that they all appeared from 1962.

The 2nd series , with new numbering, appeared from 1972, but I see that someone has wrongly split some parts into a 3rd series . Again, these were just reprints with a different cover.

Only this year have the latest editions (1981-1982, nine unnumbered volumes with brown covers) been correctly placed in the new 4th series .

Unfortunately, not all importers take the trouble to mention the code at the back of the books (see my explanation on the background page ).

Hola, now I have to correct myself.

They are not yet complete in the catalog, but I now see that volume 6 in the 2nd series is The last of the Mohicans and in the 3rd series Michael Strogoff . Parts 11 and 14 are also not the same title.

That means that they must still be different series.

Thanks for the extensive information. I still think that it is good for the catalog to classify series according to how the books look in terms of design and appropriate to a publication period. That is also more logical than an OLD Gold overview with different looking books from various periods. Just as with Judge Dee, to destroy beautiful similar books in various series. Under the guise they are reprints so there is only 1 series. That is precisely why I thought that the 1st edition option of a reissue was so smart in the beginning. But it was later banned and explained differently. Anyway, I am only a user and only indicate what I find strange about it.

When reprints with different cover, the Series will indeed remain the same, except if the entire Series is reprinted with a different cover. Then those reprints may be given a new Series name and thus fall under First edition of a reissue.

Obviously, this decision cannot always be taken immediately, as we are building a catalog and not all books have been included yet. In other words, progressive insight.

In my opinion, the meaning of First edition of a reissue has never been changed from the start, you know, Harry.

Arco, it is indeed difficult to get everything perfect, especially because LD has so many options with regard to input. Can you explain to me what LD means by 1st edition of a reissue, especially in the context with the word "an" for reissue. From that I read that every 1st edition of any reissue qualifies.

That term is used when the Series or Publisher changes.
