What do we do with artists with a pseudonym? When it comes to cartoons, you have, for example, Lectrr (Steven Degryse), Nozzman (Bram van Rijen) and AaArgH (Mario De Koninck). How do we list these authors? If I now search for “Steven Degryse” I find nothing, although he is listed under his pseudonym. This could also result in duplication if someone is not paying attention ...

There is no consistency in the naming anyway.
For some authors it says:
last name, first name (pseudonym)
For others: last name, first name (birth name)
In still others:
first name, last name
Will gradually be resolved and combined as soon as more administrators can play their role, I think.

Yes, but it seems to me that an appointment needs to be made here… I think getting married the first option - last name, first name (pseudonym) - makes the most sense.

Seems to me too, you know, and if there are more pseudonyms, separate them with commas between those brackets.
I don't think anyone is waiting for the baptismal names of authors such as Willy Geert Lohmann or Martin Spyridon whatever Lodewijk…
I was already amazed about Walker, Morton that I met somewhere. Don't we just know that man as Walker, Mort?

Yes, author names must all be rechecked. We have the pseudonyms in separate database fields. We indicate this in brackets after the author's name. These will be quickly correctable by administrators.
We want to move towards pages with background information about authors that also contain these pseudonyms and that can be completed / corrected.
Besides pseudonyms, we also know “name variations” in our database that we use in the search function. An example of this is “Willy van der Steen” as a name variation for Willy Vandersteen.
By the way, Willy once had the following pseudonyms that are now all neatly listed: Bobs, Wil, Mik, Pim. However, they are not that well known so it is still the question for me whether you should show all pseudonyms in brackets everywhere

You can of course collect background information yourself, but have you ever thought about talking to Kees Kousemaker from Comiclopedia?
If you link the authors with that, you suddenly have a huge amount of information.

To make it even more confusing: Willy Vandersteen's christening name is Willebrord Vandersteen.

I really like such a christening name for a background page.

Choosing the last name, first name, pseudonym does mean that you must be familiar with the real name of the author.
I know most of them, but I had to think deeply about Dany's real name. And indeed I find all those names a bit exaggerated with Martin Lodewijk. Glad I don't have an extra christening name :-)

You don't have to: if you search on the pseudonym you can find the author too, right?

That's a good point. I hadn't thought about it yet. Then we have to include the authors under the real name as well as under the pseudonym. I put it on our ToDo list.

We have already removed the (beautiful) baptismal names from Martin Lodewijk. And also with Lohmann. And Morton Walker is now Mort Walker, that's how I know him.
Administrators will soon also be able to do this.

As I had emailed René before, it seems most convenient to index the main page of each author under the real name of the author (without baptisms of course), so eg http://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/Strips-Auteurs ... . On that page you could put a list under the real name with pseudonyms that the relevant author uses (in this case "Lectrr").
All pseudonyms can of course be put back in the author list, as long as they are no more than simple hyperlinks to the main page of the author. At the moment I enter author names in any case as “Real Name (pseudonyms)”, so it shouldn't be too difficult to convert to such a system.

Yep. There will soon be a page per author where we can collect all kinds of interesting information per author in a structured way. Also comes for the series and the publishers.

I have seen that there are authors entered with Real name (pseudonym), but that there are also authors with the pseudonym in the Alias field. The latter is better, but how do you get such a name as a user in that Alias field for admins?

That is not yet possible, but later on via the Author page. There the pseudonyms (aliases) are displayed and you can also change them.
Before that, we will convert the pseudonyms entered in brackets to the alias field so that everything is consistent again.

to make it difficult
and what do you do with pseudonyms that include multiple authors :)
here I am referring to wirel willy vandersteen and karel Verscheure
adding the pseudo to both authors will be best
now someone else adds this pseudonym to willy vandersteen because now you only have karel if you search for it

When I look at Authors > Andreas I get an empty page. A nicer solution would be to instead of:
Andrew
to include in the list:
Andreas, see Martens, Andreas
It would be nice to add all pseudonyms in this way, so that you can simply find Moebius alphabetically under the M.
Moebius, see Giraud, Jean
The full name in brackets in the alphabetical list seems superfluous to me. It doesn't even fit with Giraud, for example. Mentioning the pseudonyms is sufficient.
Pseudonyms for multiple artists can also be included:
Messing around, see Jager, Gerrit de and Stevenhagen, Wim
A search for junk work currently yields nothing.
