The comic series name De X-Mannen Juniorpress has suddenly changed into the series name X-Men [1982-2009 [NLD]. https://www.lastdodo.nl/catalogus/ comics / album series / 35007-x-men-1982-2009-eng? scope = 35007

Why is that?

Thought only foreign comic series names were written that way.

Just like that I still have comic series names with 'Vol. so many 'in the series name encounter.

Every now and then I can no longer keep track of what is happening.

Hi,

There are just a lot of comic series and we can't - poof! - give all series the correct name at once. This happens in batches, partly because it takes up a lot of the processors of our servers.

I happened to do something again last week. Dutch and foreign-language comics are treated identically, otherwise people who speak other languages will not understand it, and they have been coming to us in considerable numbers since LastDodo.

Edit: oh yes, and X-Men has been changed to X-Men in that series because the later releases of Z-Press have been added (numbering continues). And Z-Press used X-Men, which makes it the most current name.

Please indicate in a pb to me where you encounter that Vol indication.

And don't forget: we can 'vol. x 'don't just delete it. For each series it must then still be investigated from and up to and including which year that series ran or is running. Since we do not have everything in the catalog yet, external sources should be consulted. All in all, quite a painstaking job.

@Arco

I can imagine that it is an awful lot of (executioner) work. Nor is it a blame. I only noticed when I searched my album series list for the X-Men and couldn't find them anymore. Took a while before I found it under the new name. I will look under my Dutch comic series and adjust this series where possible if that is good.

@Collectioneur

I go through the strings in my collection and pass them on.

Renaming series manually: it is better not to start. Then you also run into frozen items. We just do it at ease, per series.

@MandersH

Thank you for reporting several series, they have been modified.

For your information about entering Comics: As a basis the Handbook for Comics applies include these rules:

  1. The titles are filled in at Comics in the same way as for Magazines. So the Series name + the serial number. A few examples: Spider-Man 12, The Flash 21., Batman Incorporated 7, Batman and Robin 15.
    For sub-series we use the Sub-Series name + sequence number. Examples: Dark Victory 6 (From the series Batman: Dark Victory [1999-2000] [USA]) , The Early Years 12 (From the series X-Men: The Early Years [1994 -1995] [USA]).
  2. The Series names are written normally, so if the Hero starts with an article, the series name also starts with that article. Examples: The Flash: Rebirth [2016] [USA], The Lone Ranger & amp; Tonto [2008-2010] [USA]. For the sake of clarity: Do not use a comma + article or omit the article. So NOT: Flash, The: Rebirth [2016] [USA].
  3. To keep the series somewhat clear, the year of issue is indicated at the back in square brackets. The format is [xxxx-xxxx], so without spaces. A number of examples have already been given above.
  4. The series name ends with the indication of the country of origin, in square brackets. Examples: [USA] - [GBR] - [DEU]. Use 1 space between the years and the country.
  5. Popular comics are sometimes released with several covers at the same time. In such a case, indicate the original cover in the Number addition field with an a (no capital letter). The variant covers will then receive ab, c, etc.
  6. The variant covers are also First edition, unless it is actually a Reprint.
  7. Comics usually do not have an ISBN, so enter: None
  8. As with Magazines, the pages of the cover are also included in the Number of pages. For example, if the inner part consists of 28 pages, the 4 pages of the cover will be added, so a total of 32 pages.
  9. Only Comics / Classic is entered under Type. So not also Album or TPB.
    If it is a TPB, then only use TPB. Under Particulars, enter which numbers of a particular series contain this TPB.
  10. Only use custom images. Preferably scanned and beautifully cropped. A third image is not required, but it is good if a photo / scan is made of the colophon or something else that contains additional information about this item.

@Collectioneur

No thanks, you're welcome. If I have found a few wrong series names again, I will send them back to you. I'll take it easy.

Thanks also for the info.

Greetings Hein.

Just an update on series names at Comics.

Currently the Volume / Vol markers have been removed and adjusted from all comics series. This unfortunately resulted in many duplicate series and many more duplicate items. These are all merged.

There will probably still be duplications here and there, but the title can first be changed in the usual way: Duplication of xxxxxxx

We are not there yet, also the series names of TPBs and HCs are adjusted in the same way as for comics series names.
The further verification and adaptation of the comics series names will remain an ongoing process and, given the number, will take a long time.

Many people have contributed to this, thank you and keep doing this!
