Request all active users to also indicate duplicates as 'duplicates'. I now come across the following interpretations: duplicate, double, doublet, dublure, copy. It is very time consuming to find and delete them.

So you come across an item that is already there: Change the title to "Duplication of ... (Catawiki number of item that must remain)".

This works quite accurately, naming duplicates.

1340 items of duplication.

Stamps stand alone with 381 pieces.

Postcards and book play leapfrog for second and third place with 120+ items.

Sugar packets and comics are also approaching 100.

Will those items be filtered out by themselves or is that a long manual job? breath?

Administrators must manually remove, merge, or fix those duplicates. That is a job that you have to think about periodically, in order not to let the amount of work get out of hand.

As mentioned before, you should not take the numbers mentioned 100% seriously, because the new search function finds still all kinds of items that have been corrected for a long time. The problem is known .

And only super admins can delete items and there are not many of them, so it can always take a while before many duplicates are removed.

Of course there are always people who think they have something unique and enter that right away without searching. This also creates duplications.

Is there also a standard way for foreign importers to declare a duplicate? I don't want an English importer to use "Duplicate from".

why not, you can simply retype that text, what is difficult about that? If you give me a word in Finnish, I can really retype it ... even if I wouldn't understand it

70% of the number of duplicates is determined by one specific heading. As far as I can tell, the number is growing there not so much because salespeople are blindly adding items, but because some active (ex-) administrators have recently been identifying more and more duplicates that have sometimes been unnoticed for years and years.

The backlog in merging is regrettable, but fortunately that does not mean that the catalog is deteriorating. The opposite seems more true to me :-)

Of course I do not have the tools to be able to see in which section more duplicates are being made, but it seems logical that in a section, for example comics, stamps, etc., there are more duplicates than sections that go less fast.

But I do like to poke around a bit and I notice that more and more duplicate items are being posted, also by users who have been on Catawiki for years.

The number of duplicates will also depend in part on the increase of the catalog.

Does anyone know a simple method to visualize the growth of the catalog headings?

The main page does contain totals per category, but if you did not keep track of the numbers yourself six months ago, you have little insight into the pace of growth.

The only thing you can deduce from is the overview of "All new items", which contains the 1000 most recently entered items. For Stamps, the 1000-before-last of July 11 (6 days ago, average entry so approx. 167 per day), with Comics of July 5 (12 days, 83 per day), with Books is July 4 (13 days, 77 per day), at Records and CDs June 28 (20 days, 50 per day).

3954875 is just a duplicate, only that detail photo is useful. As a result, I also see that this is not the re-release, which would justify leaving it in the Catalog.

Don't know how long it normally takes to remove a duplicate but item 4203195 I already changed to duplicate on 11-11 2013 but it is still there.

The title is just captain kirk, and no duplication of XXXXX. Then it just remains.

So if you change the title to duplicate XXXX it will be removed.

I mean 4203197 with same date

Can items 3802175 and 3780441 will be removed.

These items were in the wrong section and have been re-entered by me in the correct section as stated.

how long do duplicates remain visible, I removed / merged duplicates from stickers months ago but they still show up when I type duplicates in the search bar. Annoying (just a little bit)
