It's just an idea.

The overview 'New items in catalog' is nice, but could be better used if:

- either integrated in the catalog (eg for Stamps, country selection: additional possible filter 'New', possibly supplemented with option 1 week and 1 month;
- either in the 'new' screen itself extension with the standard filters (the same ones provided in the catalogue), possibly supplemented with option 1 week and 1 month.

Why?

1. Quality control can be performed by anyone. Eg. filter at Stamps on Franking / Seal and see at a glance whether there are any maximum cards or FDCs listed. These can then be corrected from the start. Now such items often remain in the catalog with their wrong properties for a long time (and that leads to pollution -> duplication). Going to audit the entire catalog over and over again is mopping up with the tap open. Quality control facilities at the source are invaluable, even more so when all eyes are on the line. After all, this is the business (involvement) of everyone on LD.

2. Collection management can be done more effectively (as opposed to sometimes time consuming efficiency). Eg. a collector has already registered country 1, 2 and 3 (collection and search list) and is working on country 4. If you can see what country 1, 2 and 3 have been added to the new one after a month, you can use a small effort on LD to keep a more accurate picture of your collection. Now you can go over everything again. More time left for quality checks and targeted corrections.

3. Commercially very attractive. A large part of the 'new' items are intended to be sold in the showcase. If a potential buyer (and/or seller) can search specifically for the newly offered material ... Bingo! Shorter lead times, higher turnover, everyone is happy and satisfied.

But as mentioned in the beginning: it's just an idea. One madman can generate more ideas than 10 fools can realize :)

PS: same concept could be applied/implemented on 'New for sale' and/or 'New in search lists'.
Also, but additionally for completely different purposes, in 'New in collections' : finding new soul mates in a specific collecting area ... Why neut?

You can also change to recently added by default. That filter has been around for ages.

Well fazerco, now you let me search. Indeed! :) My sort was already stuck in 'Default'. The list contains a nice option 'Recently added' at the very bottom. I hadn't seen it yet. But that option is worth gold.

What period is this about?

Your search is exactly the same, so you see all items. They are just sorted differently. For those who have already seen the new site: a Recently added and a Recently changed.
