It's just an idea: now that Lastdodo is separate from Catawiki auctions (except for "partnership or something"), there may be publishers of books, magazines who are willing to publish their new editions themselves because of the importance of a well-functioning collector's platform. to enter. Or is that contrary to the intentions or has ever been tried and publishers see no interest in whether such a thing is not even allowed? Obviously, a company is not a "collector". There will be no need for comics, the catalog is already so well known to buyers of comic books that new editions will soon be included.

Publishers will not scan their own books, but will soon use PDFs of printer's files and we prefer not to have that.

It was also a misguided idea. Didn't even know (now via 1 x search) that there are no fewer than 1500 publishers in the Netherlands. And if they participate once, you as a collector may have nothing more to say. Delete it, silly idea.

The idea of being able to import directly from the source has been discussed early on, expressed. An intermediate form where a lot of (time) gain can be gained is to directly retrieve the basic data via code or ISBN, supplementing this with photos of the item from the importing collector.

Try to find everything from an author on bol.com. Hopeless. And reprints are not kept at all.

The premise of Harry56 is very logical, because most of the information is indeed with the publishers. The practicality is somewhat different.

A collaboration with the KB would also be ideal, because the Depot of Dutch Publications present there tries to collect all Dutch book editions. The bottleneck is with the scanning of covers, because for that alone you would need a team of full-time employees. And who pays for that?

Eventually the problem will resolve itself if enough collectors use the catalog. For (new) Dutch comics we are already at almost 100% import. And as far as I can tell, things are going in the right direction with foreign-language comics.

For books it will take a little longer, because that audience traditionally consists more of readers than of real passionate collectors .

Boekenmagazijn @ KB collaboration. ..who knows

KB obviously knows the CA ######## now Lastdodo catalog and will look at all that beauty with a "jealous" eye. KB catalog is traditionally without "pictures", but digitisations are increasingly visible. Worthwhile to view an illustrated fully digitized one, that aside.

With books, the problem is indeed that readers do not really feel the need to enter their booklets in a catalog. In recent years, much of the import has come from booksellers / collectors who have stopped (like me), where the imported book can be bought directly in a shop. But that's the way things are getting along.

I thought it was funny. I looked up 4823417 at the KB, there is the year [1955] and annotation "1955 taken from Catawiki".

Relevant XKCD: https://xkcd.com/978/

So considering the idea of the KB as an absolutely reliable source, we can hopefully take it to the grave ...
