I am very curious how collectors keep track of what they have, and then check when they are on the road. Tell us about it here and maybe we can help each other

Nowadays I have an mp4 player on which I have the front covers of my books. In the past I had lists in a folder that said what I had and what I was specifically looking for.

I try to map out my collection with Catawiki and I trust my brain when I'm out and about, but one day I'll use an iPhone ;-)
And sometimes little notes help.

I have also relied quite a bit on my brain, nowadays it means that I have a decent box of double books. In addition, I am far from being able to scan everything. At the end of the month I will go to London for a week and try to get all the English books scanned before then.

We expect to launch an iPhone version and maybe other mobile applications in a few months.
What you can do now is export your collection or list of values to Excel and view it with a PDA on which Excel is on when you are on the road.
We also think that in a few weeks' time we will be able to offer the possibility to order a printed book from your Catawiki collection. Then you can take it with you. For large collections it will also be possible to order a folder with loose-leaf content.

I still keep everything on a PDA from Palm in excel. Works well. In the PDA I now have all models ever released from Alfa Romeo (more than 7000). I only have about 400 myself, so I'm not there yet.
I also collect Alfa car brochures. But I don't have so many of them yet, so I can easily keep track of it.
The printed book would be very nice, but then I first have to register everything in Catawiki; and I'm not that far yet.

Don't get me wrong, but:
- My collection (and many I think) changes very often. How do you keep track of that?
- What will such a book / loose-leaf system cost? (I am and will remain a Dutchman… lol)
- In what possibilities can you have such a book made? For the comics I would like that on album series. This is now not possible via the excel file.

With me, everything in my smartphone is in Excel, which you always have with you and so do the lists. I find it very useful and effective.

I have been using a palm Sony Clié for years and Ms Excell on my PC.
Works great to use on the go.
Each tab is a series and this works really well.
On my other PDA it doesn't work that handy because I have the scroll button wrong on the side.
For the time being I haven't seen an alternative.
And keeping my collection up to date is quick and easy, on the PC of course.
Palm Sony or on the PDA , is only for reference, no edits. You can do that much easier and faster on the PC.

Ordering a printed book from your collection has been realized as announced.
But the iPhone version has been delayed unfortunately.
For the time being, it is best to export to Excel via the Export function and then print or take it on a PDA to a fair.

How come the export function is not on My collections? Is this because I set my collection as private?

This is a bug as a result of this morning's change. Just like the lack of the link to your wish list. We are in the process of fixing this, sorry for the inconvenience.

That's different for each book, you will be able to scan the front and back. Also specify what is on the title page, there at ©. Plasticized or not.

@ Steven: the most important thing is to carefully compare the front and back with the first editions in Catawiki.

@fleroke
Usually there is a title list at the back of the Dupuis releases. If there are more titles than the number on the front cover, reprint

A simple test version has been made that works, but unfortunately we have not yet gotten around to making a version that we can distribute.
Marco and I both have iPhones, so we think about it every day :-)

I tried mobile Internet on a handheld with Windows Mobile and Internet Explorer once last week when I went to a trade show.
Basic functions all went well (was able to browse new items and the catalog), but certain menus (My Collections) did not appear.

All 10,000+ comics and comics, 400+ books, 1000+ CDs and 300+ DVDs in excel lists on a HP PDA . Tidy maintenance every week then takes less than 15 minutes.
