I sometimes see that in the country of publication in the book section of a Dutch book by a translated author, the country where the book was first published is stated.
Could you perhaps adjust the help text? Now it says "where the book was primarily published". This is similar to the first country of issue and of course it should not be.

How important it is to know where a book was printed. Can't just leave the field…

And the automatically generated addition "miscellaneous" cannot be left out of the book series.
The book is in a series or not, but certainly not in several book series.

(Actually more of a book forum discussion)

How did it ever get in that field?
I don't have to.

And I think "Miscellaneous" is something that was wrongly taken from Comics (where it works very well, especially for administrators, not to "lose" items).

I once looked at Biggles, but there too the country of issue is not filled everywhere ...

The “Biggles contributor” has hardly added any new Biggles books after assigning this field (Last entry 05-11-2009)

It's not pointless information. It may be useful to know whether, for example, an English language book has been published in England, America, Canada, or elsewhere. In itself it would even be nice to mention whether a (French) edition was published in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, etc. for comics.

But it can be much easier. If a field is linked to the publisher for the country of residence (and possibly city), you automatically have the publication country for all issues of that publisher.

has been suggested before, it also causes problems, because it is not unambiguous ...

I don't understand. Why is that inconclusive? And what kind of problems do you expect with that?

As far as “miscellaneous” is concerned: that is a confusing name, but it is useful (and that applies to all characteristics of an item) to have filled in something (even if it is just a dash ) next to an empty field, to be able to select for missing information without having to open each item individually.

I also find dashes hideous.

Book Warehouse does have a point when it comes to searching for empty fields. That is not possible and was also the first reason to work at Strips with an album series "Miscellaneous" so that no albums could be "lost". Maybe there could be a tool where you can search for empty fields. Would also be very helpful for administrators.

Of course I am not concerned with the dashes, but indeed that there are no empty fields. You may also be able to automatically fill in an invisible character, if the search function recognizes it as information.

By the way, what's wrong with the site, I keep getting error messages. New server?

Boekenmagazijn By the way, what's the matter with the site, I keep getting error messages. New server?

Between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm, there were indeed many errors. It performed again around 17:00. Was dealing with a problem with our hosting provider.
