??????????????????????????????????
????????????????????????????????????
buying something through the auction and then not wanting to pay
????????????????????????????????????
you should try it at a real auction. If you don't even leave the building... roughly speaking, then.
And you accuse Catawiki of scam????????

Marktplaats-mentaliteit.
Marketplace mentality.
Sellers and serious buyers hate this.
If the conditions and FAQs were just plain clear ... but no. This is really just pure scam from a third-rate auction site.
Is very clear, you just have to read them.
Can I also cancel my bid?
No , every bid accepted is a legally valid bid and it remains valid until a higher bid is made on the lot

@Nevski: Wauw.
@ Nevsky : Wow. What allegations. For the sake of simplicity, I assume that your response has something to do with auctions ? The frequently asked questions clearly state that any bid you make on Catawiki is legally valid. In other words, if you bid on a certain item and you became the highest bidder, you just have to pay. Point.
If the fork is different, then I'm curious what exactly happened, because I find this reaction so out of the blue very hostile.
Nevski, just pay including the extra costs of the collection agency! Then pull the plug at Catawiki and just don't show yourself here again. ;)
Boekenmagazijn wrote it already, that is the old MP mentality, offer and never show anything .........
I even had contact with the auctioneer on duty. He had to inquire because he did not know whether bids could be withdrawn. So am not the only one who does not find the rules clear.
@Swagman, I still decide whether I pull the plug.

bids cannot be withdrawn only in very exceptional situations
is sometimes a bit possible but ndaruk to occasionally and exceptionally
rules are more than clear

When you sign up here, you will be asked if you agree with the terms and conditions.
I accept the Privacy Policy , Cookie Statement and Terms of Use *
If you click the check mark blindly and don't bother to read through something, you can hardly blame someone else for something that stems from your own negligence.
If you read the FAQ at the auction, you will come across the following.
Can I also cancel my bid?
No, every accepted bid is a valid bid and will remain valid until a higher bid is made on the lot.
All in all an expensive lesson, but "Was mich nicht umbringt..."
Apart from the strong comments above, it is not about the frequently asked questions, but the general terms and conditions are the legal ground. This is very clearly stated in paragraph 4. In paragraph 4.12 everything is mentioned in the event of non-compliance with the agreement by the buyer. Catawiki must make these conditions clear to bidders. So if someone registers, these terms and conditions must be made known to the bidder (also to sellers) or stated at the time that the buyer makes a bid and again when the agreement (highest bid) has been concluded or at least a referral. is made known to the person concerned. I don't know if this is happening.
ps. Ted, just referring to or a click for the terms and conditions is not enough. Worked in this legal context for years. As a Catawiki I would explicitly state this when registering. "When participating in an auction, you conclude an agreement with a bid .... etc. watertight
Dank je, Paul.
Thank you, Paul.

there is a telephone number or an address of the collection agency on the letter
for questions, sign up there
and the leprechauns don't bid
I am not concerned with thanks, outline the legal context. The fact that Catawiki is a scam goes beyond all limits. I just looked at a bid. Under the bid is stated again View the auction conditions.
This will be pointed out.

A nuance on my part:
If you enter an amount under "Bid directly" and click the Bid button, the bid will be accepted immediately, without further warning. The first time I did that I was shocked, because I was used to eBay that you first get a popup window, in which you have to check the amount and confirm the bid.
Of course that is no excuse. to bid for fun and then withdraw from your obligations, but it might be advisable to build in extra security for new users.
Given the large amount of advertising that Catawiki as an auction site offers. After all, it is to be expected that more and more people will be lured who are indeed only curious about the auctions, and who do not (want to) take the trouble to read the rules first. This is not only annoying for the seller, but also for serious candidates who are outbid by "ghost bidders".
Is it nowhere in my supermarket that I actually have to pay? I think it is clear who is the wrong person in the story, and that is not catawiki.
Edit. Of course, certain things can always be clearer. But to start a bit like that, I think catawiki can also be tackled legally. Isn't that reproach? : p
Overigens opmerkelijk:
Incidentally remarkable:
Nevski registered on 29-10-2013
Apparently bid on something.
It is now 11-11-2013 and already has a debt collection burau on the pants?
Isn't that incredibly fast?
Misschien een tweede account?
Maybe a second account?
I rest my case - tenminste, dat probeer ik ;-)
Or is Nevski's story a hoax?
And is he laughing about the fuss we are making about it?
I rest my case - at least I try ;-)
Well, then there is a critical look at the conditions of the auctions, which also does not hurt.

I think Nevski only received a reminder email in which there is a threat with a collection agency.
