I have a large crate of (old) comics, dating from around 1970.

But when I look for the titles, I get issues from around 2000.

Am I now supposed to scan all the comics or so?

Can someone advise / help me?

Thank you in advance.

If you search with a title in the search field, you will get all published items with that title.
The trick is to find the right issue by the front and back.

Scanning your own books is always useful. Especially if you want to sell them through your shop.

Thank you very much,

(I really want to sell them as soon as possible)

I found a few

but unfortunately the vast majority don't.

I have quite mastered the art of finding the right edition (year, etc.),

only the correct years are almost never included.

So I guess I'll just have to wait until I have a scanner available.

Anyone else with suggestions?

At the bottom of each page of CataWiki there are 2 useful links: Tour and Help . Read that first and then continue with CataWiki.

Also useful when entering (if your comic is not in it!!!) is the Handbook for entering comics. (When will that link be put on the main page of comics anyway???)

Good luck with CataWiki!

only the correct years are almost never included.

Do not focus blindly on the years mentioned in the colophons, these are often the years of the first year of copyright . These are often the same for old reprints. It is especially important to look at the back of a comic book. The year of actual publication also applies in Catawiki, which may differ from the year printed in the book.

Most comic books are already in the catalog, your books will probably be there.

Best,

Thank you both very much again.

I started with the manual (pffff, it will take a while before I'm done with it).

Good... so the years probably say very little, I'm not very happy about that either,

maa rick will have a look/search.

I'm thinking... maybe it's an option to offer them at a strip shop?

For example, if there are only a few Tintins in the catalog, and the oldest is from 1997 ... what should I do if I have 1 that says;

Casterman 1976 ISBN 90 303 2531 3 ???

Dear Die,

For example, when you search for a Tintin album, only the main series appears first (See link below).

http://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/strips/series-helden/10197-kuifje

On the same page, you should see the following in the large yellow bar:

'A selection is currently being shown. Click here to see everything from 'Tintin'.'

So when you click on 'here'. You see all Tintins of all years. This way you should be able to find your Tintin. To make your search easier, you can also specify it by year, publisher, artist, etc.

I think this is the answer to your question.

Good luck!

Best,

Thank you for your message/comment.

I followed your advice,

and that way I can indeed find some comics and put them in my shop,

only that Tintin (and some others) then again, but that should not spoil the fun.

Thanks again.

@ Die,

You can also enter the title of your Tintin in the search box in the top center.

All versions of this album will then be shown. Comparing the backs with your copy may take you a little further.
