The order of the Magic cards is currently first the core sets, then the expansion sets, and finally the special sets.
This divorce was also made on the official magic site until recently.
It looks like this.
(Unfortunately, the codes for the sets are currently the only way to put them in order. Something is being made that will make this unnecessary in the future, but that will take a while for now)

What I am considering now is to put them by publication year, and alphabetically within that year.
Because the year of release is indicated on almost every card, it should be easier to find a set, even if you don't recognize the icon of the set.
It will look like this.

1993) Alpha
1993) Arabian Nights
1993) Beta
1993) Unlimited Edition
1994) Antiquities
1994) Fallen Empires
1994) Legends
1994) Revised Edition
1994) The Dark
1995) Chronicles
1995) Fourth Edition
1995) Homelands
1995) Ice Age
1996) Alliances
1996) Mirage
1996) Visions
1997) Fifth Edition
1997) Portal
1997) Tempest
1997) Weatherlight
1998) Exodus
1998) Portal Second Age
1998) Stronghold
1998) Unglued
1998) Urza's Saga
1999) Battle Royale
1999) Classic Sixth Edition
1999) Mercadian Masques
1999) Portal Three Kingdoms
1999) Starter 1999
1999) Urza's Destiny

The alternative is that I only use the set names, then everything will be alphabetized.
The disadvantage is that this is only useful for people who know all set icons by heart.
This is going to look like this.

I personally find this last solution the least desirable.

What are the preferences of the magic collectors themselves?

As far as I'm concerned, the first option seems to me - so putting the cards in chronological order is the best. That applies to the vast majority of collection areas.

First, as Arwin rightly says, it is easier to search for people who do not know all the icons by heart.

Second, much artwork is also time-bound in style. And the chronological order fits in perfectly with that. So I would say chronologically logical!

My preference is also for chronological and within that on alfabbet. It is the most logical order in my opinion.

Very beautiful.

I had also received 2 responses via email.
A neutral and a proponent of a chronological order.

Then I think we are.
Soon I will change the set names.

Thank you for your opinion.
