hello,

I have inherited a beautiful stamp collection from a deceased family member and am inventorying it ...

Where possible I would add missing strings ...

However, as an absolute layman, I encountered some obstacles when making an inventory ...

For example, the allegory series as described in the following places:

https://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/postzegels/reeksen/1767295-1900-allegorie-type-merson

https://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/postzegels/reeksen/1767345-1906-allegorie-type-merson

https://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/postzegels/reeksen/4078615-1916-allegorie-type-merson?scope=4078615

https://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/postzegels/reeksen/1767563-1917-allegorie-type-merson

https://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/postzegels/reeksen/1767915-1920-allegorie-type-merson

https://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/postzegels/reeksen/1809853-1925-allegorie-type-merson

https://www.catawiki.nl/catalogus/postzegels/reeksen/1775349-1927-allegorie-type-merson

Specifically, I have some stamps that I could possibly place in these different series. However, how can I determine which sequence is the correct one?

They are either MNH, or canceled without legible date ... I can't deduce anything from that either ...

Can someone show me around?

Thank you very much in advance!

Mvg

maybe an example: I have a 40 cent allegory stamp, which I can possibly date as 1900 or 1917.

at first sight I don't really see a difference between the two images in the catalog

Hello User,

When selecting my stamps, I always use the Colnect website as a guideline.

Maybe this is for you. A stamp often says " Click to see variants". Then you can see which variants there are.

As an example:

https://colnect.com/nl/stamps/list/variant/25537

I hope it is of some use for you.

Greeting,

Yvonne
