Does anyone have a link to clear renderings of this Montenez 50 F with all variations?

I find one that does not belong in the current variations. I suspect it is a 291E, based on the color.

That makes some difference, given that it is unstamped and without any trace of a hinge ...

I have no idea what you mean. I think some clarity in your question would be appropriate.

At the top right, when searching the catalogue, you can enter your search term Montenez. You will then get 9 items as a result. I assume you mean the first .

That link gives the first edition (1929) of the Yvert 291.

There is another, Mechelen edition, from 1930. There are variations 291A to 291E of the 50F Montenez.

In particular, it's a realistic representation of the 291E that I'm looking for.

A certificate will probably be requested from Pierre Kaiser. Then I can exchange it for the Grand Orval series.

Thank you for clarifying.

I only saw the 20 F, Mechelse print. I hope that here too an expert can provide some clarification.

The 1930 print (290A to 290C - 291A to 291E - 292A and 292B) has one special feature, the paper is cream tinted. That is the case, so I will not get any further -

291A dark wine red

291B brownish wine red

291C reddish wine red

291D pink -wine red

292E carmine-wine red

Those color variations in and of themselves don't mean much.

I find a representation of these variations in a catalog from 2007. The color of the stamp is closest to the 291E, but is the color representation correct?

The real color of your item can only be compared with the real color of the other 50 F stamps, namely when you see them all in real life and can compare them.

Never rely on scan colors since you can change and / or adjust them by definition.

The only items that you can already exclude are the 1929 stamps: they are printed in Paris on white paper and have a perforation of 14½. However, the 1930s stamps are printed in Mechelen on cream colored paper and have a perforation of 14 x 14½ ..
