Hello,

I would like to start with a collection of different plate types from the first issue, but I still have very little understanding of it. Can someone help me identify the next six stamps (nr 1 and 2) from the first issue?

I have scanned the stamps in a large format, but if you need a larger copy to have a good look (or a scan of the back), please feel free to email me.

A. Willem III, 5 cents blue

B Willem III, 5 cents blue

C Willem III, 5 cents blue

D Willem III, 10 cents red

E Willem III, 10 cents red

F Willem III, 10 cents red

I hope someone can help me further. So I would like to know which plate numbers these are, and perhaps more importantly, how do I see the differences?

Best regards

Tom

Hello Tom

Plating and Positioning takes a lot of time, let's say years.

If you are really interested in it / you need literature without it you not far

Some well-known reference works are

From GC van Balen Blanken and Bert Buurman.

Good luck with it

Hi Burgpair,

Sorry for my late response... I know that I need literature with regard to recording (and possibly positioning)... Unfortunately I can't find the books by GC van Balen Blanken and Bert Buurman anywhere. Ideally, a digital version would be available.

What can I do to either get these books in my possession, or rent/borrow them somewhere...

Are there other books that explain all the plates with text/photos/drawings/pictures?

Does anyone have any tips or suggestions?

Best regards

Tom

Thanks for the information, but is buying these books through auction the only option?

Hello Tom

Rob Amse's option is by far the best.
Except for 1 part, everything is complete.
