Save the image 'right' in Paint (free with Windows) under a different name and then upload it (replace the image with the item on LD).

You don't have that with scanning. This is the case with complicated digital situations (photo with a smartphone, for example). With digital photography, and with exotic software, you have to know what you are doing or things won't turn out well.
Then there are 'signs' in the file itself that tell smart software whether an image is straight or not. And those signs can occasionally go haywire (those signs then give a signal that the image needs to be rotated).
The ancient and rock-solid MS Paint does not suffer from this. Then a straight image in the file actually looks real.
