Hello,

I recently started collecting stamps. I mainly focus on French stamps and the ones I now collect are stamped 1984-1993. My collection is already quite advanced and I now mainly need loose sheets, booklets and pre-stamped stamps.

I'm curious how other collectors deal with this? It is difficult to find pre-stamped stamps that are actually stamped. I happen to have one (photo 1), will there be more stamped stamps? Or would I be better off focusing on MNH for these series.

The same applies to sheets/booklets (photo 2), can they also be found stamped without original gum? Or are these all pre-stamped?

Best regards.

Brian

Hi brian987

For pre stamped French stamp would be better off focusing on MNH for these series. Recent one are not expensive to buy as not so much demand for them.

No gum doesn’t guarantee  that they were used , it can be soak just

It is quite exceptional to got a cancellation on pre stamped French stamps and that add no value at all. If you got one on a cover it will be a curiosity.

Pre stamped cover were rules so you need at least to post in one batch at least 500 covers (if my memory is good enough ? ) of the same type in one go , bringing them to the central post office that check it was complying to the rules and that was the central post office , you cannot put them to a letter box by yourself. It was strict rules to pay a far lower rates.

I remenber how it was to send invitation for a wedding, it was also use for advertising letters by small companies.
