Met het prentje kun je op sites als eBay of Delcampe soms een aantal gegevens verzamelen van mogelijke zegels.
Afhankelijk van het watermerk van je zegel, de exacte kleur en de tanding, kun je bij oude meuk meestal kiezen tussen meerdere mogelijkheden (waarvan er slechts één correct is). Oude meuk is niet altijd eenvoudig.
Het bepalen kan jij alleen maar, want jij hebt de zegel in je handen. Enkel jij kan het watermerk zien, de tandjes tellen, meten (doe je met een meetlat) om daarmee de tanding te berekenen. Of naast een tandingmaat leggen en vergelijken.
Ook de exacte kleur is soms enkel maar te bepalen met het echte item voor je neus. Scans (en vooral foto's) verdraaien soms de kleuren in mindere tot meerdere mate. Op basis van een digitale afbeelding is de exacte kleur moeilijk te bepalen.
Aan de afbeelding te zien (de staat van de tanding) zal het, zelfs voor iemand die de zegel in handen, heeft heel moeilijk zijn de effectieve tanding te bepalen.
Soms is het watermerk alleen al doorslaggevend (een ster of een kroon of beide - staand, liggend of schuin - ...).
't Is filatelie, waarbij plezier van het zoeken, het vinden en het daarna te weten is inbegrepen.

Het is een belasting zegel uit 1939.
Worden verkocht voor ongeveer 7 Euro
Hier een andere uit de Serie, alleen is deze met een Perfin van de,
Western Assurance Co Ltd.

Maar nu over deze zegel gesproken, ik heb er zes verschillende gevonden uitgebracht tussen 1860 en 1876 met verschillende kleuren.
Er zijn er drie met een doorgestoken tanding.
Maar het kan in ieder geval niet zijn wat er nu bij de zegel staat namelijk 1876
De 1876 zegel heeft een opdruk namelijk OS
Maar misschien heb je gelijk dat het de 1872 zegel is met de helder lichtpaarse kleur.

But speaking of this stamp, I found six different ones issued between 1860 and 1876 with different colors.
There are three with a pierced perforation.

The 1876 stamp has an overprint namely OS
But maybe you are right that it is the 1872 stamp with the bright light purple color.
